Took my wife, my 99 year old neighbour and my well-behaved boxer dog for a drive on New Year's Monday. Quite by chance we turned down a small road from the traffic lights at Calver instead of heading back to Buxton, and stopped in the car park below the Derwentwater Arms - so I could let Henry (my boxer dog)... Thank you for your fantastic review - I don't know where to start! I am blown away by your review. We are set in the heart of the beautiful peaks where we are trying to be the local pub, that serves well cooked fresh food and serve delicious Ale. My husband was trained at an 2AA rosetted establishment - which... More

Met up with friends and this pub was the perfect setting. We varied from adults who like good food to teenage boys with a love of pizza. The pub was able to meet everybody's needs with a pizza menu as well as a blackboard menu covering a wide variety of meals, many of which were also available as light bite... More

On a recent visit to Chatsworth House, we rented a cottage in Calver, which put us within a one hundred yard stroll of the Derwentwater Arms. Purched at the top of the village, the pub affords a warm welcome. A very pleasant oak panelled lounge bar with modern extension attached greet you upon entering. The menu has a nice mix... More

A very nice quiet country pub with excellent food at very reasonable prices. My friend and I called there today and found the staff there very friendly and obliging. I would recommend this establishment to anyone and will certainly call there again.

A very enjoyable Sunday lunch with family - all enjoyed both main course and dessert. Food was very clearly home cooked, which makes a change from those restaurants whose chefs only seem to know how to cook pre-prepared meals (good though they sometimes are). Staff very pleasant and there were good draught beers on tap too. All tables seemed to... More

Turned up for a swift pint and was greeted by Sarah behind the bar, friendly locals and a great pint too. One of those pubs we will visit again - perhaps to try the carvery - as it was what a pub experience should be (even the music was good)!

Visited the Derwentwater Arms after a gorgeous autumn walk on Curbar Edge. We got such a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were able to pick the table of our choosing, a nice cosy table at the back of the lounge. We both had the fish & chips with mushy peas and shared a side of beer battered onion rings.... More

We stopped over here on our way to Sherwood Forest and we weren't disappointed. Best value food I think I've ever had the pleasure of being served - and my friends felt the same.
