From start to finish this was a disaster we joined our friends who were at the table already at 7.30 a waitress came over eventually and gave us the menus and then asked if we would like a drink we then decided what we wanted to eat and gave all our choices (5 people) we did have specific requirements as... This pub has lovely welcoming atmosphere and a warm log fire to greet you! Good fresh food and good choice of drinks :) Dogs are welcome and perfect place to stop after a walk in the local forest

I may be biased but I have hated this place since I moved into the village 14 years ago. It was great before it was take oven and now they serve draft beers that don't appeal to anyone as far as I am concerned and the prices are about 15% over the norm for the area! Food is hot and... More

Had a leisurely lunch here with my mum last week. The 'snug' area is lovely with a relaxing atmosphere - it was perfect for a catch-up. The food was a lot better than the 'average pub'. I had the chilli beef salad which was lovely - so vibrant, fresh and crunchy! Service was good, even though we were 'out the... More

Worst roast dinner I have ever had. Beef kind of slimy. Potatoes so hard gave up after only one. Slow and sloppy service, even off-hand at times. There were seven of us - birthday treat for 90 year old aunt. One coffee didn't turn up until about 3 reminders and about 20 minutes delay. Although not dear as such I... More

Don't be dismayed by 3 stars. Trouble with this pub is that your experience can be different every time. We revisited after a poor experience before Christmas, and cannot fault the way in which management dealt with our problem. Very few establishments would have taken such care of their customers. Absolutely give this pub a chance, but as per other... More

We took the private room for a family group of 11 adults and four children. It was an excellent choice as it was plenty big enough. There is a good choice on the menu and there was universal praise for the food. - upmarket pub favourites. Portions were big and there were kids sizes available. The service was a tiny... More

Visited with friends for Sunday lunch weekend before Christmas so was quite busy. The Sunday lunch was very good and importantly hot. Only one of our table order a starter, which never arrived. When our mains arrived we asked re the starter and they suggested they take away main course whilst she ate it, no thanks!!! Would have been microwaved... More
