We stayed here for 2 nights, did some nice hiking and had some gastronomic moments we will long back for :) We appreciated the relaxed, intimate and "no-fancy" atmosphere. The different tastes and combinations were delightful, and we will especially remember the mushrooms, as we were present and overheard the "negotiations" when the "mushroom man" arrived with his delivery :)

A Michelin star frequently makes people think of fancy, complex, sauce-driven, EXPENSIVE menus- but not here. Christophe, the young chef, takes meticulous care to personally select his ingredients - frequently walking the surrounding hills to source them - and then makes fascinating and taste-provoking melanges to bring out the best in all of them. If the sole reason for visiting... More

The journey up the mountain to get to this one star restaurant was a nightmare...probably the scariest road we ever traveled on in France....when we finally reached our destination, we were surprised to find a not so charming, very plain dining room with no cozy ambiience, and though the chef was talented, our meal did not measure up to Michelin... Christophe is fully deserving of his Michelin star. Everything we ate in his restaurant on our two nights here was amazing. The depth and variety of flavours he manages to present you with will leave you grinning from ear to ear. The preparation, care and attention that goes into every dish is clear to see and taste. All the dishes... More

Lunch was an ideal time, as the huge wall of windows overlooking the valley was magical in the brilliant July sun. The quality of the meal AND service even exceeded the view! Choices were limited to a 35 euro or 45 euro meal, and we had to pick the same 'menu', since kitchen staff numbered 2. We loved the 3... More

We stayed three nights at the hotel and after the first night we decided to eat in the restaurant every evening. Admittedly this was partly to avoid driving at night to another village however the food at Le Robur was enough in itself to tempt us to return again and again. The menu is seasonal and gastronomic. At this time... More

Auberge Le Robur is spectacularly situated on the mountainside of Roure with views the length of the valley. Staying at the Auberge we were able to get a corner window table (really every table has spectacular views) for what was a very special meal. My wife, a vegetarian had the 29 euros menu with a substitution of the meat serving... More

We had been to the nearby arboretum for a couple of hours and were hot and ready for lunch. Th hotel really wants you to book but was very gracious in welcoming us. We went for the 39 euro menus as my husband doesn't eat meat and missed a course each but certainly had a wonderful meal anyway, staring with... More

Auberge Le Robur is a small reataurant/inn in the cliff-hugging village of Roure, about 1h20 north of Nice and high up on the way to Auron and Valberg ski stations. The owner/chef, Christophe Billau, (looks about seventeen, must be doing something right) has been quietly building a reputation for some time, and I tried unsuccessfully to eat there a while...
