I have been here a few days ago. It was absolutely great! I must say the place itself deserves a visit 'cause it isn't only a restaurant but a little piece of Volterra' history: you will be amazed by the construction in stone and how long ago has been built. Then the food is more than great. I had 'tris... More
We had an incredible meal at La Taverna Della Terra di Mezzo in Volterra. We saw their menu as we walked around town and it looked really good. The restaurant wasn't in the Rick Steves' book, however, and TripAdvisor reviews were mixed. We decided to take a chance. The restaurant is across the street from the Museum of Torture. We... More
Beautiful restaurant. Visit the cellar! Had lunch with antipasti and venison, polenta, mushrooms, chestnuts, red cabbage and a gigantic aperol spritz. We loved it! Please notice: donot order a cappuccino during or after lunch/diner!😂😂😂
- Location: cozy street, nice terrace, fantastic decorations with the troll outside - Service: friendly friendly - Food: the tuna fish fillet with fennel, pineapple, tomatoes in Havana sauce on red potatoes pie was delicious & the deer loin with red cabbage, chestnuts, porcini mushrooms and polenta was very impressive
Walking along one evening wanting something a little different, we found it. The selection of items on the menu were different and that is what we were in the mood for. OK, we are from the US and maybe we had some mis-communications but pointing to the items on the menu should have been good Right/Wrong. 6 couples and the... More
Maybe lunch is different, but dinner here was great. The wait staff was helpful, main course food was much better than we expected for the price, and the panna cotta for desert was spectacularly plated. We had the venison ravioli, lobster seafood spaghetti, and spaghetti carbonara. House wine was also pretty good. Overall zero complaints and a lot better than... More
Over ten days of eating our way through Tuscany, our lunch here was one of the best meals we had. The piatto intingolo (Tuscan cold meats and cheeses) was outstanding according to a very demanding diner. The bruschette pomodoro was equally good because of the perfectly ripe tomatoes, the tasty local olive oil, and the wonderful bread. We also enjoyed... More
On the final day of our trip in Tuscany, we decided to visit Volterra. A charming Villanovan town steeped in history, and with equally steep vertical ascents, this seemed to be another addition to a near flawless exploration of the region; that is until we made the regrettable decision to eat at La Taverna Della Terra Di Mezzo. I asked... More
