A fine example of that uniquely Italian blend: rustic sophistication. This applies equally to the setting and the food. Like Sulmona itself. Abruzzo is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled provinces of Italy. Within Italy it has a reputation for excellent savory but simple food. No flash in the pan or otherwise. I brought a young foreign friend of... More

The place itself is very warm and inviting. Watching how the chef works is absolutely beautiful. The staff are very friendly and served us with a great smile and very good recommendations. And the most important- Food and wine are extremely unique and taste like heaven.

Lovely wine, complementary platter of snacks and duo playing outside. Armatrice benefit for victims of the recent quakes.

Warm, buzzy restaurant serving very traditional food, very well done. The portions are HUGE so very reasonable to share a dish for primi or secondi. Standout dishes were veal cheek cooked in montepulciano d'Abruzzo red wine, pasta with slow cooked oxtail, and an aged prosciutto which had a wonderful flavour but was a little thickly cut for our taste. Lovely... More

We happened to stumble across this wonderful restaurant and had the most superb simple, yet delicious meal, that we watched being prepared right in front of us by the awesome chef! We even had some free music and entertainment by a group of locals, which made us feel like we had a really special experience. Great food, lots of good... More

This restaurant only does set menu. There are 5 courses. First a soup, next pasta, then Saltimbocca, a true Roman meat dish which has veal, sage and topped with lovely proscuitto. Next dessert and of course coffee. This restaurant was better than any I experienced in Roman which was promoted by locals as Casalinga Romana (Roman home cooking). Grazie per... More

La Cantina di Biffi is superb! What more can I say! Being a native of Sulmona and living abroad, tradition here (much like it is pretty much everywhere in Italy) people will go about their usual business during the morning hours, then go home to gather with their families for lunch. I thought I'd revisit La Cantina after approximately 10... More

This is a very good choice of restaurant if you are in Sulmona. Someone obviously thinks about the menu, which was interesting and well prepared. The wine and beer selection was innovative-some good craft beers and excellent local (and more generally Italian) wines. The local rose wines were particularly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

We had read somewhere that there was a very good restaurant next to a Persian carpet shop. This was it. There was a great and informal atmosphere here and it seemed to be patronised mainly by locals who were regulars. As others have said the food is really delicious here. Slight disadvantage for some people might be that the staff... More
