Booked just an hour in advance. Cozy and local entrance with air conditioning at the right temperature. They welcome us with a kindness and exquisite courtesy. Very well-kept location with informal elegance. Staff always friendly and professional. As an appetizer we took the characteristic dish, a return to the past, clods of garlic in oil, very tasty. For the first time I tasted Spaghetto with clods of garlic sauce, a classic traditional dish, fantastic. The prix fix menu for this place served up an amazing small plate meal. Each course brought scrumptious tastes and tectures. We were please to have found this one in our guide book and were glad that we had decided to have dinner in this beautiful restaurant. And for us we thought that it was very reasonably priced.

"A Michelin star is the ultimate hallmark of culinary excellence. Michelin stars are awarded to restaurants judged to be of a particularly high standard..." while the food at this restaurant is very good, we have to express our discontent with the service. My husband ordered a bottle of wine during our meal. The bottle was brought opened to the table, we tried the wine and the smell was off. We requested another bottle and made a respectful observation to the waitress who laughed when we indicated that the wine was not good. Also, another individual of the restaurant indicated that the reason as why the wine was not opened at the table was for ("non sporcare il tavolo"), not to get the table dirty???. In summary, not worth the price (more than 55 Eur per person) if you are looking for a real Michelin quality restaurant.

A bit of a disappointment

1. The grilled lamb was tasty but it was a strange meat cut as it had many small tiny bone pieces. Could have had more meat instead of bones. 2. I asked for a vegetable side dish from the menu and was offered grilled zucchini. When I got them they were not grilled but cooked with come cheese and contained bacon. A big no-no as we don t eat pork. We complained and they removed it from the bill but read nr. 3 below. 3. The menu showed some prices and we were charged with more than what was written there. For example the trio meat cuts from appetizers section was 16 in the menu and we were billed 18. A glass of wine was 4 in the menu. We were charged 5. My 2 year old daughter ate some simple pasta with tomatoes and we were charged 10 euros when in all other restaurants we ve been to we were charged for child price. To add a positive thing: this was the first restaurant we’ve been in Sulmona that had air con.

nothing special... we expected more but above all the bill was a little too salty. the location is quite ordinary, the staff is efficient and kind, but they add a 3 euro cover charge which seems excessive to me, the second course arrives without accompaniment, you have to take au gratin vegetables separately, basically a measly little plate which they charge 6 euros for. the portions were generally small, even with the first course they were small in quantity. Sorry to hear your experience. We're from Canada and have been to Sulmona a number of times, We have always enjoyed our visits to Restaurante Gino. They treat us like family. If we can get over there in 2022 we'll certainly be back for a lunch.

I saw this restaurant when walking around Sulmona old town … I decided to try but I had no reservations . It was very very busy but they could get me a place . Probably the last one . A great experience I selected a Baccala Carpacio as appetiser and Baccala con peperoncino … simply fantastic … 2 glasses of great wine . The service is very good . Great atmosphere … on my way back to my hotel , the hotel mgr said I picked the best one in town I would love to come back !
