Rifugio Scotoni is not only good, especially for grill but you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Dolomiti!!! Be sure you will stop in a sunny day so that you can enjoy the external view of the mountain. Inside is OK but without a view.

Our stop into this rifugio was not part of the plan for our Alta Via 1 trek. We were waylaid by a storm as we tried to reach Laguazuoi and had to make a rapid descent once we reached the top of the pass. By the time we reached the last part of the ski run (now covered in lush... More

Wow! Wow! Wow! Ok, it ain't the Rockies, the Alps, or the Himalayas (cuz I've seen those!), it's even BETTER! Imagine eating lunch at 5500 feet with towering 200 million year old Triassic age mountains towering 1500 feet above you, AND THE FOOD IS REALLY GOOD, TOO! Here in June, blue skies and sunshine in abundance ... cheap pensions down... More

There are place which are so fantastic, that you can only dream about them. This is one of them. After a scary trip up in an old cabin (don't look down if you do not have to), you arrive at the most magical surroundings of the Italian Dolomites. You smell the fresh air, put your ski-shoes in the bindings and... More

Don't mess about with the cheaper dishes that include pork and chicken. Eat when it is hot. However, this place is often too crowded and it is hard to get a table or seat. Eat early, before all the other people ski-ing come in. Start your day early ( first lift ) for better piste conditions and less waiting at... More

This restaurant is on the famous 8.5km "hidden valley" ski run. We timed our visit to arrive around noon for an early lunch. The place was already heaving inside but fortunately the sun was shining and we found a table outside. The restaurant is famous for its steaks, which are not cheap but we decided to share an entrecote steak... More

Combining Lagazuoi, Rifugio Scotoni and the horse taxi makes a perfect day. Based on the reviews we went for the meat dishes. We choose the mixed grill (21€ pp) and a steak (25€). Just delicious. We also enjoyed the desserts (kaiserschmarren, chocolade cake, strudel). Try the hot fresh appel juice. It was a busy day. We had to wait for... More

Rifugio is hardly an apt description for this establishment as it would put many a city restaurant to shame. In sunny conditions the setting is spectacular and there is ample seating on the large wooden patio. Seating is more limited inside but the ambiance is all that one would expect in such a restaurant. I have eaten here many times... More

We stopped there when skiing down from the Lagazuoi (which, by the way, is an amazinly beautiful piste). It was afternoon, we sat outside with the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. We had a very good goulash soup (yes, I know, not very adventurous, but it was exactly what we needed at that moment), some pasta and excellent white... More
