Six of us arrived without booking but the staff managed to fit us in. Although the manager/owner looked a bit grumpy he was very helpful. We had to get assistance from one of the waitresses who spoke english and she kindly explained the menu to...us. Two of our group ordered the mixed grilled fish, three the fried calamari and one a pasta dish. The fish dishes arrived first but we had almost finished before the pasta dish arrived. The owner did apologise for the wait.
The mixed grilled fish was amazing but far too much for one person. We also ordered a house salad for two, which wasn't listed on the menu as far as I can remember, but it was absolutely delicious (not the normal basic lettuce and onion) and included pomegranite seeds, fennel, tomatoes, cucumber and a lovely dressing.
The negatives were it was very expensive and very hot.More
From the outside it would be easy to dismiss this place as just one more predictable, perhaps acceptable, seafood food restaurant catering to the growing crowds of tourists in San Benedetto. We were recommended to go here by local friends. The antipasti were a never...ending parade of pleasant surprises. You pay for either the cold ones, the hot ones or a selection of both. We did the latter. Perfect oysters, crabs, tuna tartar, marinated raw catches from the Adriatic, langoustines in all sorts of shapes and modes of preparation. The octopus salad was excellent. We also tried two very well prepared pastas, some excellent sorbet and coffee with liqueur (premixed). I would highly recommend this place to anyone keen on indulging in local seafood at an affordable price.More
Even if I am Italian please allow me to spend a few words in English just to suggest and raccomend this top quality traditional restaurant to all those foreign people who cannot understand and read Italian properly. If you are looking for something which represents...a culinary tradition, try Tato. Trust the experience of the chef Priscilla and allow Andrea and the staff to suggest you their best daily. Every year I come back to Tato during my holiday in San Benedetto and every time is a real surprise. This year I have been here for dinner twice, I experienced a "brodetto" which was really tasty and magistrally prepared. Or otherwise you can enjoy "the percorso di mare", meaning many different tastings, both raw and cooked, cold and hot . Or you can try Priscilla's fantasy for her wonderful pasta dishes. And then, home made cakes or just a simple and tasty "sailor's coffee."Fifth year in San Benedetto, ten times at Tato's restaurant. What else? I really like it!!!More
A couple of colleagues and me were lucky enough to find our way to this gem of a restaurant one evening. Great seafood and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in San Benedetto del Tronto.
This is a lovely bright seafood establishment that is popular with well heeled locals.Service was excellent, and the food and wine delicious. My only gripe (and it's an important one)was that my main came a full 25 minutes before my wife's,so effectively we ate separately.Other than that,a...classy but relatively expensive venue.More
This restaurant is located near the center of the town, not in a touristic area, and I have noticed that most of the customers appeared to be local residents. Fish and seafood menu, with many entries. Very good quality and technique, in a traditional style....Very good wine list. I was interested in the warm appetizers, and I was happy to receive the selection that was suggested to me (or chosen for me). The price is in line with the restaurants of higher class that you can find in/near the town, and I doubt that you could find a better dinner of fish and seafood.More
