We went to this restaurant many years ago and it was more of a wedding venue. Since 2013 some new owners have taken this on and raised the game more than somewhat. One is seated ( late September ) in the middle of a garden..., a fabulous garden and surrounded by flowers and all sorts of busy insects , but none to disturb the rather nice and feeling of tranquillity inside an open - at the sides - eating area. All very impressive . The menu is not huge but just right in its selection and a little bit of sparkle. A couple of items were off when we went which shows that not everything comes from the freezer ! The presentation of the food was a kaleidoscope of colour and demonstrated real effort . The quality was up there too. The wine list could do with some improvement and variety but ok. What is really great about this place is the extreme air of calm and tranquillity created by the garden plants, situation and overall surroundings. The staff displayed ability, humour and professionalism - all very good . Definitely back on the list in this area - probably in when warm weather.More

We had a successful family lunch here on a sunny Sunday. The gardens are really impressive and contain lots of distraction for children. The food is good, although we should have been told when booking that the Carte on a Sunday starts at 28 Euros...whereas, during the week, it's 14 Euros. My "average" for service reflects that, although in the doing-of it was perfectly good.More

We fell in love with this place last year, and it continues to be every bit as good. We always go for lunch, and the value for money is outstanding. This is now the benchmark for all other restaurants we visit, and we always compare...the quality of the food, the presentation and the price. Although the food may be just as good in the 2-Michelin starred restaurant we visited in Paris, when you think that the price there was ten times as much as Nathalie and Nicolas charge, we wondered why we would ever eat anywhere else! At weekends (especially in the summer) you will need to reserve a table - the gardens are fabulous and they do a lot of parties when the weather is good. Whenever we are in France, we eat there regularly and receive delightful recognition and warm kisses (on the cheeks) each time we arrive. With the tented "extension" which is fitted in early May, we are able to sit right by the carefully manicured gardens while the dog sleeps in the shade a few feet from us, on the grass. They even bring a bowl of water for him along with our carafe of shilled rose... life doesn't get much better than an afternoon at Le Paradis du Pape!!More

I have enjoyed lunch in Le Paradis du Pape three times in the last month and I would recommend this restaurant. The food is beautifully presented and the very good food offers good value for money. The set menu offers a variety of starter, main...and dessert courses which should satisfy all diners. The views of the garden add another dimension to the experience, on two occasions we were almost within touching distance of the beautiful colourful flowers. On one occasion it was raining but this did not affect our dining experience. After a long relaxing, enjoyable lunch with wine and coffee included in the price we ventured into the wonderful gardens with fish pond, play area, vegetable garden and so many colourful flowers and foliage. This was a delightful way to end our lunch, walking through the gardens talking to friends and family.More

This restaurant is idyllically set in a magnificent garden about 40 minutes from Toulouse. However about the only thing they got right was dish presentation and even that couldn't hide what was coming out of the kitchen. 350g piece of porc was at least 50g...short and rare. After sending it back to the kitchen to be recooked it came back with a new arrangement of vegetables that were still frozen! Wine list also needs to rethought. Sorry, can't recommend this one.More

We were staying in Carcassone and wanted something special for a birthday lunch with friends. Something that met my pre-conceived idea of a warm, sunny, lazy lunch - special, but not stuffy or "posh". This was it. You would NEVER accidentally find it. It's hidden...out of town, down a no-name track and is an absolute hidden gem. We sat under an awning on the terrace in dappled shade, champagne on ice and hors d'oevres awaiting. The grounds are so beautiful, crammed with masses of flowering shrubs. The food was great too - particularly the wonderful birthday cake they made for us with a light-as-a-feather sponge, strawberries and cream. Limited lunch menu but very reasonably priced - worked out at 45€ a head all-in Only downside would be if the weather forced you inside, it's a lot less gorgeous - looks like it's used a lot for large functions.More

What a fantastic discovery this restaurant is. We were told about it, or we could have driven by without being aware that this jewel is hidden behind the high hedges and the field of sunflowers next to the road. Monday to Friday their lunchtime fixed...Menu du Jour is amazing, with excellent presentation and delicious food at a price which leaves one wondering how Natalie and Nicholas (the owners since 2013) can possibly make any profit. The gardens are beautiful, and such a relaxing environment where we always enjoy our after-lunch coffees. That's another thing - the lunch price even includes wine and coffee! The service is perfection: they always find an alternative if the fixed menu includes red meat (which we don't eat) and our waitress, Julianne, is charm itself. This restaurant is top of our list whenever we are in the area. Highly recommended, but don't tell everyone, or we won't be able to book a table in future!!More

We were a party of four and decided to have the "short menu", a table d'hôte selection. Lovely starter of tomato and tuna tart, followed by maigret of duck with puréed veg, then a freshly made kiwi cheesecake with kumquat. And a bottle of rose...between us. Total cost was 56 euro (about £40), which we thought to be exceptionally good value. We would have paid about double at home in Aberdeen! Our waitress had limited English but communicated we'll, as did the waiter - he was quite a character.More

I've been here two years running, and enjoyed it very much. I can say it has even improved since my first visit. We dined on the terrace which overlooks a lovely garden - get there a little early and have a walk round before your...meal. There never seem to be many people about, but maybe it's because I've visited midweek. It's several months since I last visited so I can't remember what I had, but I hope to go again this year. There is plenty of choice on the menus, and the fixed price menus are good value.More

Le Paradis du Pape is about 1k outside Mazeres on the Molandier road. It has beautiful, well kept gardens which run down to the river. We first came here several years ago in Winter for lunch and was disappointed with the bland cuisine, lack of...ambiance and choice, things are very different now. We had lunch with friends on a beautiful sunny afternoon which started off with an aperitif under an awning backing on to the garden. Complimentary d'oeuvres were provided alongside our drinks and we were allowed to sit and chat undisturbed until we were ready to eat. We chose the €22 set menu and started with selection of ham and duck slices on toast with tomato puree, my wife had terrine of trout. Main course was lamb shank with veg and my wife had tournedos of duck, beautifully cooked and far too big for her to eat all of it. Crumble for dessert and a bottle of Minervois wine, €30 a head. Service was excellent and friendly. We spent a very pleasant afternoon catching up with friends and before we knew it we were the only customers left in the place. Would we go again? You bet, looking forward to it.More
