Every summer for the past many years we visit a Michelin restaurant during our holidays in this region of France. This was our first visit to Les Morainieres but certainly not our last. In spite of the Corona-imposed restrictions everything about our visit was exquisite:...the service, the decor of the restaurant, the view, the food, the wine card, the atmosphere, the staff. While the six course lunch menu including amuse-bouches lived fully up 2-star standards we were pleasantly breathtaken by the astonishing view over the turquoise Rhône river dotted with small kayaks, the vinyeards and small medieval villages below and the soft mountains as a backdrop. We were there on a hot August day and benefitted from cool air and shade enabled through the full removal by sliding of the entire window panels. A special mention deserved the skinned & stuffed tomato, the creative way of serving the goat cheese and the ingenious presentation of the two desserts, coffees and cake. The local rosé we were assisted to select was also of superior quality.More

Fantastic restaurant to enjoy a delicious gastronomic menu made of local and fresh products. We spent a great moment at Les Morainieres by starting with a glass of champagne from the terrace over the vineyard. Three succulent appetizer were served to accompany it. Then we...followed up with the 8-plates surprise menu. From the very first starter to the final dessert, we definitely enjoyed every single bite of the plates. All ingredients were perfectly cooked and super tasty. The chef definitely masters the recipes and we really enjoyed having served mainly local ingredients from neighbor producers. The service was also very professional and elegant. We will definitely visit to this restaurant again during a future trip in the region.More

This Michelin 2 star restaurant is located in the quaint village of Jongieux, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The community itself is a gem, with a population of less than 300 people. For me, this was the longest meal I have ever had, closing...in at 4 hours. Certainly well worth it, as this was an exceptionally unique experience. At the onset of the dinner, we were given small card-like menus which described the choice of themes. The primary source of the ingredients would either come from the nearby lake, or from the forest. The chef would design the courses as a surprise, with us not knowing what may arrive at the table. Having an aversion to the possibility of eating freshwater snails, we both picked the “land” menu. There were 12 beautifully concocted courses in all, including 2 desserts. The meal concluded with a traditional cake from Savoie. We were a bit tired at the very end as it was midnight, so we opted to take the cake in a box, and try it the next morning. In hind site, we probably should have eaten a bite or two at the end of the dinner, while it was fresh out of the oven. In regards to wine, we tried a varietal I had never heard of before — Persan. It’s a red grape grown primarily in the Savoie region. It perfectly matched the food, especially the small sample of venison that encompassed one of the courses. The service and decor was exceptional. And the Sommelier really knew his wines.More

Everything about the restaurant is amazing. The view, the attentive service and the exquisite food are all brilliant. My father and I went for lunch and choose the large menu which was wonderful. The suggestions for wine to accompany it was on point. I will...definitely go again.More

Great restaurant! The staff is on point and very professional. The food is outstanding and artistic. I advise you to taste the “confiance” menu. The landscape is very cool especially at dawn.

Just had lunch here and have nothing but praise for the food and service. We went with the chef’s set lunch and the “surprise” cheese course and had a wonderful, memorable time. The combination of flavours within and across the courses was remarkable with gentle...background notes being repeated, skilfully, across the meal. Not a surprise that it has received so many plaudits. We shall return. Thank you.More

Had lunch today and was so impressed about everything that I decided to write the review immediately. At an hour’s drive from Geneva, a worthy of its 2 star Michelin restaurant that offers an exceptional food/taste combinations, a superb service and an outstanding sommelier (thank...you clement)... what more can you ask for? Guess what, it is open on SUNDAYS as well !!!!! Hard to forget the taste of the pigeon and its side dish (DONT MISS IT!). The plates are colorful paintings, just plant the fork spoon knife, dip the crunchy bread and enjoy. Go for the menu “confiance” ... trust me; I have been there, done it... i will be back Thank you for the chef and the crewMore

A small house up a winding road, nicely renovated, very charming. We felt very welcome. Wonderful view, unfortunately it was raining on the day we visited. The sun was on our plates though, from the very beginning up to the last spoon, everything was perfect...end delicious. The service was excellent, present but not too much. The sommelier's choice of wine was excellent, too. Just one remark: for me, my ris de veau was overcooked, but that depends on personal taste, my wife found hers great.More

Every dish was a discovery a pleasure to the eyes and palate. The service was perfect without the hovering I often find in some restaurants, and every dish is explained. It looks unassuming from the outside but the decor is modern and tasteful . Yes, it...is expensive and except for the local wines which are worth tasting, it is good quality for what you pay for. I would go there again.More
