We were staying at the Brimnes cabins and this restaurant is in the same building as check-in and just a very short walk across the parking lot. The service was just okay. The menu was very limited but we learned that this is typical of rural Iceland. I had the home made fish cakes with boiled potatoes, onions and salad. All this was on one plate. The salad was very small and without dressing. The fish cakes were burned on the bottom. When the server came by to ask how things were I asked if the cakes were supposed to be burned like this. He indicated that there weren't and walked away. My wife ordered a hamburger with fries. She got a cheeseburger. The burger wasn't very thick. The fries were thin (like McDonalds) and were good. There may only be one other place to get food in town (though I don't believe it's a full restaurant). The next closest restaurant is in Dalvik more than 20 minutes away, so local options are very limited. The first night we tried eating here the sign said that the kitchen closed at 9 but they refused to serve us at 8:30. Have low expectations, get there early and you won't be too disappointed.
Thanks for reading. If you've found this helpful I will appreciate a thumbs up below.

Despite advertising a restaurant this hotel does NOT serve dinner- not even to resident guests . Very poor.
