We love this country pub not only for the fantastic view and food but mainly for there being no televisions - if you want to watch tv instead of chatting go to another pub. Also there are no dogs allowed in here which, to us and lots of people we know, is great as we do not like to eat... More

My partner and i went to the leather smithy the other night and sat and had a drink outside. The place was busy and had a lovely atmosphere. We decided not to eat there but the drink outside was heavenly. Its always been a fabulous place and still remains so.

We're US citizens living here in England for 3 yrs. We've enjoyed many pubs, but we found the food here to be our favourite so far. This is the first place we've found with salad that has blue cheese dressing, our Cajun chicken sandwich with chili mango chutney was fabulous, and the salmon sandwich was great as well. Go out... Popped in here this evening for food after a long walk through Macclesfield Forest. Made to feel welcome and the staff were very friendly. We both had the whitebait starter which was beautifully fresh and a meal in itself. My partner then had roast lamb and I had the steak and ale pie. Both meals were lovely. Would definitely recommend.

Had lunch here with two friends who are locals - and greeted and treated as such. The food is good pub style food and plenty of it. The views are wonderful and the log fire completes the picture. Lying right in the middle of gorgeous rolling hills, this is a lunchtime must.

Again after reading positive Trip Advisor reviews we decided to have a drive out for some good pub food. Partner ordered Wild Boar Wellington. He had one mouthful and sent it back explaining that it was awful and didn't taste right. It was extremely tough, very small and had a thick layer of fat around it. The waitress to our... More

Nipped in after a lovely walk with the family. Good honest food, home cooked, very good value for money. Would definitely go again.

Description
This is a traditional pub in a lovely waterside setting on the edge of Macclesfield forest. Excellent food is served lunchtime and evening. A standard menu is supplemented by a daily "blackboard" of "specials" which features the best of local produce. The pub have a range of traditional ales including guest beers. In the winter real fires warm the stone floored bar area as well as the more formal dining area of the pub. Very popular and booking is essential at weekends. As residents of the area we aware of what the competition has to offer and feel that Leather's Smithy provides excellent food of consistent quality at a very fair price.
