We took some family members for the 5 course taster menu and it was excellent. Great food and wine flight, relaxed atmosphere with friendly service and a magnificent view. For a small pub and limited team this place is exceptional. Highly recommended.

Expensive Sunday lunch with a party - not inspirational...food did not appear to have been cooked to order more assembled. No options for children. Lack of atmosphere in dining room and waiting staff poor. Other than the magnificent view, nothing to recommend.More

In the company of my part lover and full time friend I was guided to the hanging gate Inn, one of many secrets she has kept hidden from me for many years. The staff were refreshingly surly as they wished to close and people had...More

We can't rate this restaurant highly enough. The website doesn't do justice to the most perfect setting. Congratulations for an extraordinary high level of service and quality of food. The local clientele gave a warm welcome as soon as we entered the bar area and...More

Been here quite a few times. Its a bit remote but worth the journey especially on a nice day. Great views from the back. Cost vault on a wet day for walkers.

Love this place! We used to go a lot as a family but it's been a long time since moving away. Expectations were high & we were not disappointed! My grandparents had fish which was cooked to perfection, we had steaks; again amazing. That can...More

Description
We are small country pub with outstanding views across the Cheshire Plain, we serve food of the highest standards under the guidance of acclaimed chef patron Ernst van Zyl who moved into the kitchen permanently at the end of October. We serve light bites 12/2:30 Wednesday - Saturday and a lazy lunch menu same days until 2pm. Friday and Saturday lunch and evenings we also offer a 5 course tasting menu with or without wine flight and Wednesday - Saturday evenings our a la carte menu. Sunday is traditional roasts day with a super choice of dishes cooked to order. Our wine list is wonderful with lots of fabulous wines and we always have our hydes original and a guest beer on draft. We close Monday and Tuesday. Look forward to seeing you soon. THG team.
