we held our wedding reception in the winebar in April, a small party of 12. It was a fabulous experience. A table was set in the rear area, prosecco for the guests on arrival, great bar service, food served on time. A mixed menu so everyone's choice accommodated. The food and service were first class. The chef had provided a... More

We visited the Ava for lunch earlier this week and it was absolutely excellent! We both opted for the Ciabatta Sandwich, one with curly fries and one with chilli and soured cream fries. It was delicious and very good value. Prompt and courteous service. Will definitely be back.

Went here for the first time since the refurb! We both got steak and it was lovely! Prices were reasonable and God selection of drinks! Restaurant itself is looking well. Will definitely be back to try the tapas night!

As usual I came in for lunch. I know that I never go away disappointed after having had a meal here. And certainly the food more than lived up to my idea of great food on my latest visit. I was greeted in a very welcoming manner and shown to a table and had a look at the menu. The blackboard... More

My sister, niece and I went in mid week as we have never tried this restaurant and I can safely say that we will be back. The waitresses were lovely, the place was lovely and the food was amazing!! My niece can be particulary fussy and to quote her "It's lovely!" Lovely menu and I cannot wait to come back... More

The food was good and all the waiting staff were lovely. But.. it was busy and we expected service to be slow. 2 meals were brought then a few minutes later another came then a few minutes later the last meal came. An order of chips came when we were almost finished our meal. We asked for a jug of... More

Went on Easter Monday with two others, one of whom is vegetarian so we checked the menu online to make sure there were plenty of options for him, which there were. When we arrived though we realised there was a limited menu on that day due to it being easter, and neither of the two veggie options really appealed to... More

Hi Aimee R, Due to the influx of customers on bank holidays the restaurant only offers a holiday menu, which is much more manageable for the kitchen and staff. Sometimes this means that certain dishes aren't available, we are happy to accommodate any request (where we can) and enjoy going the extra mile for our customers. Looking forward to serving... We arrived and were looked after immediately And as we looked at the menu we were told about the steak special We got the warm bread dips for starter and it seemed a bit frugal - they could have given some more breads considering it's not really costly and would have been more enjoyable The waitress went off to get... Description
The Ava Winebar has undergone a complete refurbishment and has been transformed into a classy, elegant and on trend wine bar. We are ideally situated on the corner of Main Street opposite Bangor bus station and the post office. We are open seven days a week for lunch, tapas, dinner and drinks. The future of The Ava is an exciting one, especially with a complete reboot of the drinks menu, now knows as 'The Drink Bible' with its quirky illustrations and finishing touches. The food menu has also been revamped and expanded upon, proving that even the pickiest of eaters can find something they will enjoy. For those who are looking something a little lighter a new bar menu has been introduced which features tapas and selected wines by the glass. The newly renovated spot is also expecting a new beer garden and a re-branding of the cellar bar.
