Great food on Sunday evening. I had the Sea Bass which was lovely. My wife had the Welsh Lamb Medallions. Outstanding!
Service here is great. Good waiters and the head waiter is very funny.
Beer is amazing if you like Real ales. Glamorgan brewery CWRW and the Pale Ale were superb. It gets very (VERY) busy but is worth it. Book in advance (well in advance) for the food.

This is our second visit to the Royal Oak after not being able to use our holiday home due to covid .
The staff are young but very helpful and do as much as they can to make your visit a great one .
We have had the surf and turf on both occasions the price is excellent and the fillet steaks were cooked to perfection as was the Lobster .
It’s wonderful to see a restaurant not pricing this meal to stupid levels , and makes this combination of food more accessible well done The Royal Oak ,it will be our regular go to place already booked for the 18th of July
I recommend you book to avoid disappointment .

After some Internet searching we decided on dining at the Royal Oak and we werent disappointed, met by welcoming staff in a warm and friendly environment. We sat in an area that was on trend, recently and well decorated part of the pub, we then received a good and prompt service with really excellent food and local ale at a very reasonable price, we constantly had timely visits from the attentive &
knowledgeable staff. A very pleasurable dining experience

Our 1st dining experience since lockdown easing .Although we left it too late to book we took a chance and sat outside with a drink until a table came available within 30minutes.
We ordered drinks at the bar while the food order was taken at the table on iPads.
The service was very friendly and food was great value,tasty and freshly prepared.
Definitely worth a visit. Tables can be reserved in advance by phone!

On arrival we were greeted by a friendly waiter, showed us to the table and gave menus. Tables a bit tacky could of done with a sip over. Food ordered all arrived hot and presented well, the wooden boards the food were served on were well used and knife marks all over them would of preferred a China plate, steak and chips were delicious well cooked steak tasty and juicy, chips home made and really nice. Lobster however was poor value for money only about 2 mouthfuls of decent meat, wouldn’t buy again. However there were 8 of us and all other dishes were fine. Will return but will definitely be asking for a China plate.

We booked the Royal Oak on the basis of the excellent reviews - how disappointed we were that our experience didn’t match up.
Firstly, the food we had, Dover Sole and the Burger were very good. Not sure what the desserts were like as unfortunately it was the overall service which let them down which wasn’t due to staff shortages as there were plenty around.
We were shown to our prebooked table, given menus, and told that the specials would be advised when they were available. When someone came to take our order, we were advised the specials were on the wall behind us!
Food ordered, fine. We had finished our drinks and as no one had been to ask if we wanted any more, I went to the bar to get them.
Food was then delivered and we had to ask for cutlery and condiments. We were asked if the food was ok just before we finished.
When the plates were collected we asked for the dessert menu. This was bought to the table with the choices on a small blackboard with no prices on. We thought we would ask the cost when our order was taken - after waiting 20 minutes and having finished our drinks we gave up waiting and decided to settle the bill. When told that we got fed up of waiting the member of staff asked if we wanted something to takeout. Not sure if this was free or something we had to pay for so we declined.
Our area of the pub only had one other couple in it when we left, so it was not overly busy.
Shame.

We had booked for a busy Friday night and were shown to a table in the corner of the bar. There was a lot of young staff and they were all very pleasant but there wasn't a lot of organisation. One would bring you a menu but never followed up. You had to wait until you could collar someone else. Anyway that's a minor point. The food was really good. Both of us had the half lobster with chips and salad which at £18 was great value. We had a dessert each too which I can highly recommend, also reasonably priced. There's quite a good wine list as well as all the usual drink selection. A very nice meal with friendly staff

Had Sunday lunch here today with my family, every meal was cooked to perfection, piping hot food and all the meals came out at the same time. The roast beef was to die for and my wife’s steak was literally melt in your mouth, I’ve paid far higher prices than this elsewhere for food that simply does not even compare to the quality of yours. Fast and friendly service and would highly recommend. We will be visiting again. Thank you to all at the Royal Oak, you smashed it 👌

Arrived, asked for a menu, was asked where we were sitting (outside) and advised someone would come and take our order
Four staff on duty, about a doz customers inside/outside. After 20 mins of being ignored by all staff, we advised we would not be staying, young lad just shrugged at us.
Welsh hospitality at its worst. Maybe just an off day?

Four of us booked in for Saturday evening dinner. Shown to our table with menus and drinks order promptly taken. Advised by friendly attentive staff that as kitchen very busy there could be a short delay with food orders.
Two starters arrived promptly. Main dishes provided without delay! Impressed with under promise over delivery! I particularly enjoyed the Hake dish which was nicely presented and a different choice from standard seaside restaurant fare. Cod, Gammon and Prawn Pasta dishes all excellent. Perhaps a choice of salad or new potatoes to chips would be welcome? Already booked in for a repeat visit soon.

Visited for the 3rd time after previous good experiences. Ordered from specials only to be served something we hadn't ordered. Turns out the specials on the board hadn't been updated in weeks. Such as shame as fish cooked well but not the meal we ordered. Took forever to get the manager who promised to wipe the bill, I went up to see if we owed anything only to be charged for one of the meals. Waiter also didn't havea clue when we asked what the meal was and said "some kind of fancy chef stuff"... real shame as good quality Inradients and chef knows what he is doing. Won't be coming back tho

We have eaten here quite a few times and felt the need to leave a review following our last visit. Since being under new ownership The Royal Oak has really upped its game, from the staff and their welcome to the fabulous food on offer. The place is warm and friendly, is really good value for money and offers a menu for every taste, fresh fish, steaks, pasta's, burgers. We've never had a bad visit or meal - highly recommended - our new go-to place.

Been going to Saundersfoot for a few years and would often stop for a drink on our way back to the caravan. Been in there twice for food in the last 6 months and it's absolutely amazing and great value. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is really relaxed.
The garlic bread is the best I've ever had, you may want to ask for some extra napkins when you order it as you can get messy!
Seafood is top notch and the steak is on point. Curry is on par with some of the best Indians I've had.
Children's menu is really well priced and the portions would fill most adults!
Recommend booking in advance as it can get busy and see a lot of people walking away disappointed they can't get a table, but that's a good sign of how great this place is.

I booked our table 12 days before the date of our visit saying its my bday. Today when we went there they made us seat at the bar area, it seems there was no seats at the proper dining area. If i had known I would have not booked it.
Anyway they sat the 5 of us at a small table (most probably their table of 3) and send some teenagers to take our orders. They were completely unfocused, they did brought the wrong drinks, no cutlery with my starters…they ruined my special day.
Food was overpriced when you consider the general ambiance and service.

We often visit here for a drink on our way back to the caravan as it's a great spot to sit down and get some energy to climb back up the hill to the site.
This evening we went for a meal for the first time since the new owners took over. It was fantastic! I had the chicken curry, which was really tasty and a good portion. My wife and son has the fillet steak, which wqs perfectly cooked and great quality. The garlic bread is also peak!
We made the booking online, which was easy. Judging by the number of people turning up to get a table and being turned away, I'd suggest booking in advance.
Staff were really friendly and it's in a great location.
Will definitely be dining here again!
