Staying in Ilfracombe for a few days my wife and I chanced on the Prince of Wales pub. In we went out of the cold and wind and discovered the most amazing welcome, so much so that the following day we went back to watch the rugby. Brian the landlord was brilliant and the pub food was very acceptable. All... More

Spent Saturday 4th Feb in here, watching football and the 6 Nations well into the evening. Friendly people, good beer, just watch your head on the low beams!! Nice to see proper pubs still around.

EXCELLENT IN EVERY RESPECT - THE IDEAL ALTERNATIVE TO WETHERSPOONS The Prince of Wales at the bottom of Ilfracombe Fore Street is now the best pub we have visited in years. We had a meal from their board, with chips and gravy. It was hot, tasty, good value, and filling. Drinkers will love its ales and old world atmosphere. It... More

Having visited this pub numerous times over a few years I have to say that it is so refreshing to go somewhere where there is not only great, affordable food ( old fashioned pub grub) but also it's somewhere you can easily relax and simply unwind. It has something for everyone, quiet at times, busy and lively at other times.... More

I am surprised at the previous report as we have visited this pub on numerous occasions whilst visiting Ilfracombe. It's not a restaurant but what you get is good pub grub and plenty of it. I am a vegetarian and really enjoyed the veggie curry whilst my husband enjoyed the platter. I have always found the pub to be very... More

To say that the food was bad would be giving this restaurant high lights of being good. Appalling cuisine would be a more appropriate word. hygiene if restaurant would be a visit from the health department. Food well below standard and probably served to the gallows if the 1700 the Prince of Wales would have lifted his kilt and ran... More

It probably attains what it sets out to do, but should really aim higher. What they have on offer is adequate but they suffer through the locals cursing and shouting with no attempt to control them. Beware of the ceiling, it is ridiculously low, and while the beer was more the drinkable the glass tasted of something unidentifiable.
