First time eating here, and we will be back . Fantastic service, and food was fantasic , The waitress madi was very good as was all the staff and always asking if everything was ok , not sure what Anna c comment was about, as...surly if you wanted fried squid you would go anywhere else other than a traditional Indian, maybe she is used to weather spoons , if you want a great Indian meal then this is the place go .More

We came to the town on vacation and we looked at reviews for different places and we thought this one has good reviews but i cannot understand how this place has so many stars . We had tikka massala butter chicken jalfrazi and byriani we...also had starters of squid and onion bhaji's . The butter chicken was very red and never tasted of anything but cloves all i could taste was a clove taste but it was probably cardomon full of that taste and nothing else . The massala didnt even taste like a massala . The byriani sauce on the side was just like water with mixed veg as for the jalfrazi my husband cannot taste so he couldn't really say what his was like but because he was hungry he ate it but all the rest of us left everything . As a cook of all different countries this has got to be one of the worst curry houses we have ever ate in. Don't get me wrong it was so busy and we were lucky or shall i say unfortunately lucky to get a table as we only got a table because there was a cancellation. This place is on the outskirts of the town and in walking distance from the centre. On the menu's 3 meals of what we had were not even on the menu but they did it now was it that they did not have 3 of our meals on the menu list they just put it together and hoped for the best i really do not know. If you stick to what is actually on the menu it may be better but the actual food we had was not good. The squid wasn't what i expected . I was expecting fried squid but it was in a spicy sauce , not really for my taste buds but it was presented lovely . If i have to say something good it would be the starters that was the best out of everything we ate.More

how lucky were me and my wife to find this little gem of asian spiced dinner a very different to our local (kent) menu and wonderful use of spices and chillies ,without burning your throat , to bring a great flavour to the dishes we...had chosen all made better by the young family running this restaurant and very polite and friendly would not hesitate to visit again or to recommend to anyone in the paignton area residents or visitorsMore

We went there with our family, two adults and to tweens. We had papadums with chutneys, some starters to share and one main course each, plus garlic and coriander nan bread. All dishes were delicious! The staff was friendly and attentive, and offered us to...take the left overs home as take away. We highly recommend this place!More

After finding this place on trip advisor and reading the reviews we decided to give it a go and so glad we did. The food was absolutely amazing, full of flavour and so tasty. My partner had the seafood molly and I had the malabar...lamb, both were delicious. My partner said it was the best Indian food he has ever had. Little disappointed there was no desserts on offer. Apparently the dessert chef was on holiday. Staff need to up their game a little in my opinion and be a bit more friendly. Also nobody came over to see if everything was okay with our meals until we had actually finished. Still, the food makes up for everything else. Would definitely recommend and return again.More

Our annual dinner at the East in the West, lived up to expectation. Wonderful food, super service and they were happy to bag up the leftovers for my son, to enjoy for his breakfast! If you are in Torbay, book yourselves in (book in advance,...this place gets very busy) and enjoy a treat!More

This place is spectacular and a credit to the bay. My dad who is not especially fond of Indian food let me take him there today. My word, this place is special. Food was next level. Staff were amazing. And we left at 9:10pm on...a Tuesday and the place was still full since about 6:50pm…that tells you everything. Best Indian restaurant in Devon.More

A superior meal of Indian food, authentic and carefully cooked and presented. The short menu is reassuring that all is freshly cooked. Good value for the quality. Only oddity, asking us to delay our arrival time by 30 minutes, yet when we arrived, most tables...empty.More

Booked this restaurant 4 weeks ago and received an email confirmation confirming my reservation for 7pm. On arrival at the restaurant the server said they had no reservation for us and that all reservations are only confirmed by call only and the email confirmation was...an automated response. We were seated while I located the confirmation email. On finding the email which read “hi sir, your reservation is confirmed” sent from an iPhone I showed this to the server. The server replied that all reservations are confirmed via telephone only and this was an automated response….. he had worked there 6 years after all. I guess in my 20 years working as an IT consultant I am still unable to identify an automated email. We left, both insulted and embarrassed. No apology from the restaurant for what was probably an honest mistake. Don’t waste your money - go to Gurkhas Diner instead.More

We came as a party of four - the portions were generous, the service was friendly and the food was magnificent. All in all - an excellent evening.

We ordered a takeaway for collection this evening. We arrived on time and our meal was ready for us and all the guys in the restaurant were very attentive. Well the food we ordered was the best we've ever had and believe me we have...tried many Paignton takeaways. A big thankyou to East in the West for a fantastic meal to celebrate Father's Day.More

I am not one to leave bad reviews but after mulling it over for a couple of days, I thought people should know. We tried a takeaway from East in the West for the very first time on Saturday Night and wont be going back...to order again. The Chicken Tikka was like water, it was tasteless and runny, the Butter Chicken was worse. The mint sauce that came with the poppadoms (the poppadoms were ok) the mint sauce was completely tasteless, no mint whatsoever, no taste again. We are local and in 30 years this was by far the worst curry we have ever had, so bad we threw it away. I have read some other reviews and most are great, I cannot understand why this curry was so poor. Was the usual chef off?More

We came here for our sons birthday. The food was excellent. Service was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. The restaurant itself is well decorated, clean and very welcoming. I would recommend East in the West to anyone.

Delicious food, good portions and lovely presentation. Chicken tikka had obviously been cooked in the tandoori which usually you can’t tell- flavour was on point. Service was good and staff were polite and helpful.

Visited for a Friday evening treat based on positive reviews. Was somewhat apprehensive as moved into the area a year ago from Birmingham and experience of takeaways so far has been very disappointing but OMG this was far from disappointing! The menu was a little...more limited than I'm used to and there were a number of less familiar dishes but the food was well cooked, fragrant and well presented. I had the chicken murghi korma which was delicious, the balance of spices was delightful and the chicken was really good quality chicken breast, succulent and cooked just right. Garlic naan was excellent also, not at all greasy and just the right amount of garlic. Will definitely be returning to sample other dishes and would reccommend to anyone. 😀More
