Arrived after a long drive for a weekend break. Julie, the landlady, offered us Tea, but my husband went straight for one of the Real Ales on offer whilst I had a large glass of Rose wine. Some of the Ales are brewed on-site at their own Biggar Brewery, and if you can't make your mind up which one to... More

This a very cosy, community orientated pub in an interesting little village on Walney Island - Biggar which goes back to 1085, I think it says! We had what, you might call, "standard pub fare" but it was nicely done (generous sandwiches and a nicely garnished and presented baked potato.) Served with their own brewed beer - a nice, dark... Will not be returning again, table service was awful, soup was spilt all over my hand and lap on arrival to the table, had it been piping hot I'd have been badly burnt, luckily It was "just warm" and also tasteless, on the plus side the bread was fresh, although £17.50 for two soups and sandwiches seems rather steep in... Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great food. Great music. They made me a fab salad (i.e. not just iceberg/toms and cucumber!) and chips nearly as good as my Grandma's. And that's saying something!

Popped over to The Queens arms for lunch today in search of somewhere new as we tend to go to the same places a lot, not that there's anything wrong with that but we fancied a change. We got a lovely warm welcome from the resident chickens who kept us entertained with their shenanigans. We ordered our meals, both had... More

Firstly, this review would be 5/5 if the service and choice & lack of food was better - the food/meals themselves were lovely. Greeted by the barman who instantly told our party of 6 that there was only 1 fillet steak, 1 sirloin steak & 8 ribeyes. Also that there was no chicken either - so my son who was... More

A real community pub right at the heart of a lovely quiet village with sea views and birdsong. We were very comfortable in one of their pretty upstairs room and had a good meal in the bar where we were welcomed by staff and locals. Homemade pies were excellent value and quality. We were offered a cup of tea when... More
