Sitting on the edge of the pretty village of Sutton Poyntz we called in at the traditional Spice ship pub and restaurant on the off chance of a free table. There was a reasonable menu but the help yourself carvery was fab. Stacks of fresh vegetable choices , 3 meats and some great ales on offer. A reasonable price tag... More

We are regular visitors to this amazing restaurant and I have never been disappointed by their food or hospitality. I am a gluten intolerant vegetarian and so food can be a awkward for me, the staff have always helped and adapted food for my needs. The Carvery is their crowning glory, with a good selection of veg and they even... More

Staying at nearby caravan park. 10 of us came Sunday early evening. Friendly welcome, good food - most of us had the excellent and filling carvery. Good play area in the garden for children too.

This is the 2nd time we have been here. The meat is nice, not loads of it. A good selection of vegetables. Frozen Yorkshire puddings(a pet hate of mine, when they are so easy to make) The stuffing is very tasty.

The soup had no hint of basil and tasted like tinned tomato, the crusty bread was the frozen bake it yourself type. I had the beef... More

Anyone going out to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or special occasion always hopes that the place they choose to go for a meal doesn't spoil the occasion. So we were delighted with our family meal out for a birthday which was everything we could have hoped for at a very reasonable price. The Spice Ship is set towards the bottom... More

Having had a lovely day on the way home from Portland, I was looking for a dog friendly place to have lunch. We came across the spice ship. On arrival it came to us that this was a locals pub with dogs off their leads (I like that). there was a large party having food so we thought our luck... More
