Visited restaurant just after 2pm which was half full. Ordered lunchtime sandwiches and waited half an hour before we were served. One of the sandwiches ordered was chicken and mayo. Bread was not fresh and biting into the sandwich found three chicken bones. Mentioned to waitress when leaving but wasn't too overly concerned that there could have been a risk... More

this is not the first time, that we have dined at this restaurant. The food is always well presented and timeous in its presentation, not to mention tasty. We find you get good value for money, and decent portion sizes. The only negative I have, is that they could do with tables that give better leg/knee room for those of... More

Left early doors just drive was the thought. Arrived in aboyne at the boat inn. The young waiter wasn't very knowledgeable stuttered about explaining everything. Eventually got our 2 high chairs so kids now relaxed and excited as they've just seen Thomas the tank engine start his round around the place. Drinks order taken waited a bit for it to... More

Arrive for lunch at around 2pm and the inn was really busy, however shown straight to a table by very friendly staff. Ordered from the reasonable lunch specials and food arrived very quickly. All in all a very tasty meal in a very relaxed environment.

Had a lovely meal at the Boat Inn this evening. When we arrived things were quiet, but within about half an hour the place was pretty much full. We shared the ciabatta with balsamic vinegar and oil, which was as it should have been, while we waited for our main courses. I opted for the steak and ale pie and... More

A lovely, leisurely Saturday lunch for my partners' birthday. Love this place! Good range of menu options (even for a fussy eater like me), good locally sourced ingredients, & a team who have the right balance of professional & friendly. Well worth the long drive to get there.

Very nicely furnished family-friendly restaurant for Sunday lunch. Always think it's a shame so few places in Scotland do a proper Sunday roast but The Boat had lamb on today which my father-in-law says was very good. Fish and chips, Thai curry and mushroom risotto all went down well too. Service a touch slow but otherwise all good.

Probably the tastiest right-to-the-point vegan cake I've tried! That was dessert and not even the highlight of this lunch: it tells how much we've enjoyed the place. Cakes change almost everyday, apparently. Excellent and prompt service with a smile! Even the home-made bread was stunning. The chef whipped up grilled mushrooms as starter along with a stunning mushroom risotto as... More

Had an evening meal here and there were more than enough options on the menu to enjoy. Food was fresh, hot and tasty, particularly the fish and chips with a lovely crispy batter with perfectly cooked fish. Only niggle was the sticky toffee was burnt on top but being smothered with loads of toffee sauce you couldn't really taste it... More
