thouroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent, lots of choice on the menu, the quality and taste was great. Mufti and the team were extremely friendly, service was top class. We live about ten miles from Barnard castle and I will certainly be coming again and have taken a menu for next time we have a takeaway. Thank you!

Sorry guys but I was really looking forward to the meal. Everything lacked some salt. Service was swift but just really let down by the lack of flavour in the prawn starter. My wife had paneer makhni which was so sweet u prob could serve it as a desert.

Ordered a takeaway whilst staying at a nearby caravan site on holiday. I have to say this is one of the best Indian takeaways we've had in ages. My wife ordered the naga Len and I had the Delhi Khorai. Very tasty and not swimming in oil like some of the one we've had. Nan was a bit small but... More

Have eaten here many times over the last 8 or so years. As ever the service was great - swift, friendly and attentive. However, the food was not up to the normal excellent standard. Lacked depth of flavor and was all a bit samey. Will not put us off though, have had enough good meals over the years to return... More

Visited Bengal Merchant for tea one night after having many takeaways. We decided to sit in and had a great meal and great fun. The staff are superb, friendly and welcoming and very attentive. The small one with the cool hair is a proper dude as well!!!

Superbly delicious meal with large servings. Particularly noteworthy were the fried Bombay aloo starter, the vegetable jalfrezi and vegetable pathia mains which were spicy hot and very tasty.

We are used to eating quality curries and chose a local one to try. Everything was OK, I suppose, but OK is not that good when there are so many better alternatives. It is always good to try and support local eateries, but I have just cooked my own chicken curry at home and my judgement is .....it's up there... More

My husband took me to this area for my birthday, we went to Bengal Merchant in the evening and the food was lovely. I was a bit worried as we had a group of lads behind us and were a bit loud but as soon as their food came it was silent lol. The food is so lovely that it... More
