Enjoyed a pre Christmas treat at the Roman Camp Hotel & Restaurant. Very comfortable room, beautiful public rooms downstairs particularly the Library with one of six real fires on the property. Quite a collection of books too if you are still old fashioned enough to like to read an actual book!! The restaurant has a deservedly fine reputation. You can... More

To sit next to a crackling open fire in a beautifully decorated room having afternoon tea on a drieght winters afternoon is sheer bliss. Beautifully presented home baked scones and shortbread and good company. Highly recommend

The Roman Camp Hotel is beautifully decorated for the festive season, very pretty. We were seated in the library with a roaring fire as the centre piece. There were 15 elements of food, all of an excellent standard, served with tea or coffee. The service was equally impressive, with regular offers to top up tea and coffee. Highly recommend

A delightful, historic building in pleasant surroundings... Peacocks in the grounds, a lovely river flowing at the edge of the nicely mown grassed areas. Comfortable and plush reception areas with homely open fires. The food served at the wedding reception was served up in a timely manner, by helpful polite, and courteous waiting service staff. The food itself was simply... More

I don't normally like old buildings or nouvelle cuisine BUT four of us had a lovely, leisurely lunch last Tuesday. Only one other party of three in the restaurant; we were not rushed and spent five hours with our friends. Service was excellent and the food was great. Not cheap but well worthwhile. Four stars only as limited menu but... More

We stayed at the hotel and dined on-site. This place has potential but has seen better days - furnishings were shabby in the reception area and in our deluxe double room. Dingy hallways are peppered with the personal bric-a-brac one might expect to find in a shop-keeper's office. Prices were extremely high for mediocre food and drink at the restaurant... More

We ate here last night. We chose to eat the set menu for the evening. Monkfish on spicy lentils, pea soup, duck breast with veges, raspberry dessert. My description does not do the food justice. The duck was the most beautifully presented and tasty meal I've ever eaten! Service was attentive! A wonderful meal!

Attended a wedding there, in a beautiful location, and a truly amazing interior, the library in particular is where i could have sat for hours, the original pieces are delightful and full of history. Staff are helpful attentive and friendly so thats always a big plus for us. We visited one of the rooms and were delighted to see the... More

Was here for a spring wedding. We weren't staying on the site but for a wedding the venue and location both internally and by the river were beautiful. The peacocks were spectacular and very spirited. The staff were friendly and organised. The food was delicious and portions were so generous it was hard to finish. The only downside was the... More
