We visited on 11 March for lunch on my wife's birthday. I don't like to criticise and this is a nice little place with character, inside the cafe and outside in the courtyard. The food is ok - nothing special - while the cakes are nice and coffee decent. But the biggest misnomer is the claim it is child friendly.... More

Unbelievable! For any trip advisor users reading this, I would like to shed some light on your lunch with us on the 11th and what actually happened. You called early Saturday morning and booked a table for lunchtime, asking for a table with a sofa for 3 adults, a baby and a toddler. This was happily arranged by our manager.... More

First visit in years and I won't be back. 2 grannies and 2 toddlers went for lunch, firstly (no place to leave pushchairs inside) then (only table with highchairs was way at the back). OK we'll cope with that, let's get settled but then (you can only have the table for 45mins) there were empty tables in the caffee but... More

Dear Fiona, We were quite surprised to see you had left a review of the Courtyard, given the fact you refused to accept any table we offered you and were on the premises for all of 2 minutes. Please allow me to explain the reasoning behind why you were unable to walk into our restaurant and sit at any table... More

We found this coffee house by accident when visiting Knutsford. It was delightful, we sat in the conservatory which is filled with interesting cycles/antiques. The menu was comprehensive (and as my wife has a wheat intolerance, much more interesting than the usual). As we were a little tight for time, we only had a soup, bread and coffee. The soup... More

Dear David, Many thanks for your lovely review of The Courtyard, we're so pleased you enjoyed your visit with us! Our menu caters for many dietary requirements, and we are one of the few Knutsford restaurants to offer a large Gluten Free menu. Most of our customer favourites are on there, including Welsh Rarebit and Eggs Benedict. Our soup is... More

This was our first visit to the restaurant since it changed hands. What a transformation! Efficient, friendly staff, tempting menu and gorgeous food. Our experience couldn't have been better. Oh, I forgot a word for the chips. Hooray! 'Proper' chips. They're an endangered species in today's food industry. Hope to see the courtyard blooming in spring.

The new owners have made a wonderful job of the restaurant, retaining what is wonderful; yes, the model train is till there, trundling round every 10 minutes, and the wonderful conservatory is there, but the service has improved remarkably, and they are really anxious to please, so no long waits anymore, and the quality is excellent. A bigger range of... More

Dear John, Thank you so much for your wonderful review of The Courtyard. The current owners took over in May 2015, at which time based on Trip Advisor reviews, we were rated number 45 out of 70 places to eat in Knutsford. Thanks to their hard work, as of today we are ranked in the top 10 and have been... More

We took friends for coffee and cake close to lunchtime on a Monday. The service was good. The place was busy and thriving. The decor is quirky. My only negative was that it was quite pricey for what we had (especially the cake at £3.95 per portion).

Thank you for your lovely review of The Courtyard. We're glad you enjoyed your visit and found the service good. Our staff take great pride in our restaurant and it's interesting heritage! A very business like lady greeted us at the door. Buggies are not allowed in but they were understanding about a health issue which meant our daughters couldn't be left outside. Food was okay, menu a lot smaller than before. Steak sandwich could have been tastier. Children's food was nice and served with a 'frozen' plate and children's cutlery. The... More

Every request we put forward was accommodated willingly and confidently. Professional and dedicated service. Great options for gf food. Cakes were heavenly! Especially the brownies. A little pricy but building is immaculate and so interesting. Great stuff.
