We were staying locally and decided to give the Blacksmith's Arms a try. The food was really good and the restaurant very comfortable, pleasant and clean. We were unfortunate in that there was a meeting of the local farmers in the adjacent room, and I suspect that the kitchen was very busy preparing for the meal that they were to... More

Whitebait and brie wedge starters, then Sunday roast and all the trimmings. Good pints of Tribute - all before a long walk in the afternoon - good solid pub fayre. The menu is quite varied and my vegetarian other half has at least a couple of choices.

Brought my brother here when visiting as we find this place dependably consistent and great value. We came on a Monday night which helped as can get very busy at weekends. Both had the lamb curry which is always tasty and plenty of it. However the highlight was the treacle and black currant tart. Wow - really creative and the... More

My family and I booked a table at the Blacksmith's Arms mid week - it was the first time we had visited but we enjoyed a very nice meal together. We ate in the restaurant part of the pub, but the bar area was also available and several people obviously knew about the Balcksmith's Arms reputation and were also enjoying... More

Sitting here by the wood burner looking at the lashing rain out of the window feeling warm and welcome! Bar lady (Susan I think) is cheerful and friendly! Nice country pub with a well stocked bar and a very good menu. All mains are around a tenner and I am sure there is something for everyone! Had the soup which... More

Visited many times and will continue to eat here. The food is varied, the menu choices are wide, the portions are generous and good value for money. The car park can get crowded, but there's space for on-street parking too

This is a warm, friendly welcoming traditional country pub. The mix of diners at the tables and locals sat talking at the bar I find creates a lovely atmosphere. The food choices are vast and portions good. The stake pie is fabulous. One small criticism is that you need to keep leaving your table to get drinks, a little more... More

Pleasant surroundings but food rather ordinary, even bland. Pork crackling was just a piece of baked leather, inedible. Put a message on Facebook, didn't get a reply.

Chose the Blacksmiths Arms as a meeting place with a an old work colleague who was on holiday. A variety of food was ordered and it all arrived well presented and plentiful. The portions were large enough to fill most appetites and all freshly prepared, hence a short wait. I had the beef and ale pie, home cooked and delicious.... More

A warm welcome always awaits you at this tradional country pub near Tavistock, with a fine range of real ales and wines. Our chefs run a lunch and evening menu with an extensive homemade specials board. The Blacksmiths Arms boasts a bar area with a large woodburner and a dining room that can hold approx 80 people. Booking a table is always advisable, as we get very busy. We have disabled access via our dining room, also children are more than welcome too, highchairs are available.
