We went to Taylor’s after not being able to get into the Annex restaurant we originally planned to but we had a great meal here and you could not fault it.The food was delicious, the menu was generally quite a large choice but unfortunately they had...run out of pork, steak and some of the burgers. They had quite a good choice of starters too it took me ages to decide whether to go for bread, ham hock or the baked garlic Brie.It was a hard choice but the garlic Brie tasted delicious, toast was tasty and you could instantly tell it was gluten free. But I suppose I have had ham hock before and you can get bread from the Co-op round the corner. Also I loved the Brie too, that was delicious but hot(I don’t really mind hot stuff to be honest). Also the Taylor’s chutney sauce was delicious too and I loved the little side salad that came on the side too.Tasted delicious and very fresh. You also got very generous portions for everything,4 slices of bread a big bowl of Taylor’s chutney and Brie and a medium sized lunchbox container size salad.can’t complain can you. Also main was delicious had the BBQ chicken burger, tasted absolutely delicious,I loved the sauce really spicy and nice, also cheese and bacon was good and you get a proper chicken patty too not one of those kind of chicken Goeugon patty’s that you might get at McDonald’s,Kfc eccetra. Also the potato was nice and really well seasoned. The only thing I would say is that I would have liked my bottom bun a bit warmer, temperature was acceptable but could have been warmer. Also our waitress Abi was really friendly, helpful and put so much effort into making our experience special, when we were taking a photo she offered to take one of us,she recommended the bar that they owned too,she also let us keep the bread that we had as it wasn’t quite finished yet and even told us that parking was free after 6pm!Also service was nice and quick too as we were very hungry it being half 8 at night. On the menu you can get tapas too which is a really nice addition, you can get the cured board which consists of chorizo,Serrano ham,Salami, pickles, breads and chutney. The vegan board which consists of fritters, aranici, olives, pickled veg, tomato, advocado+breads. They also have the fish board of calamari, salmon, goujons and prawns with tartare and chilli jam. What would be a great idea is if you can mix and match options eg Serrano ham, salmon and olives. And what would be even better if it was unlimited.Thdy have quite a good range of gluten free options, but I wonder why they can’t make the sautéed garlic mushrooms gluten free as they could use gluten free toast, mushrooms, onions and chive. Also I like that they have a private room,an upstairs and downstairs for dining and a little lounge for meeting for coffee etc. They also serve breakfast here in the morning which is nice to know.Despite it being an independent bistro restaurant which uses high quality ingredients to make their food the price is quite good and reasonable.Lovely atmosphere, music, decor and cleanliness!Would highly recommend Taylor’s bistro. Also mocktail was delicious and refreshing and they do a takeaway latte as well.More

Very friendly staff and good atmosphere, but it was very busy. This meant that although we had pre- ordered a Christmas meal, it took about 45 mins for the starter to arrive and we left without dessert as we simply ran out of time on...the parking. Another couple had this issue also. Other walk in tables received their meals before us so I wouldn’t pre book again. In the main meal the potatoes on one main were raw in many places, we did mention this at the time and they did get new potatoes to us but one was raw still- again we simply had to leave it as no time. Not sure why some of the potatoes were undercooked, we flagged it again at the till if anything to save this happening in future.More

My wife and I went to Taylors for lunch during a Christmas shopping trip to Tavistock. We were seated upstairs which was nice and quiet. Upstairs had its own waitress and the service provided was excellent. The food was also outstanding and the chips some...of the best I've ever tasted. We will definitely be returning on future trips to Tavistock.More

This review is based on a single visit for a weekday brunch. My wife walks with the aid of a “walker”, the bistro has double doors but one was bolted, a waitress noticed immediately we needed the second door to be opened (or fold the...walker) she was there like a shot and a ready smile. We ordered our food and drinks, the drinks arrived promptly. We both thought the vegan breakfast looked interesting, we were not wrong, an interesting mix of favours and textures. Incidentally we are not vegans. Our waitress was helpful and cheerful throughout. We saw the food going to other tables, it all looked tempting. Would we go again, definitely but we are only here for a short break.More

Took forever to get a cup of coffee. Never offered a second cup. Service was horrible and there were only 2 couples in the restaurant. Our waitress stayed in the kitchen chatting while never checking in on us the entire time. Food was marginal. Would...never go back. Uncomfortable chairs. Couldn't wait to get out of there! Don't trust the other reviews. Probably owner and staff wrote them based on my experience.More

Lovely decor, good service and a nice range of food for all tastes. They accommodated our large party easily, the on line table booking is easy to follow and the welcome was friendly. The table was ready for us on arrival. The service was good,...the staff were sound if needed but not at your side every 2 minutes. The food was lovely, a nice selection and a reasonable price. Totally enjoyed our lunch and will go againMore

We popped in for breakfast on Monday - the English breakfast used high quality ingredients and the sweet potato and chorizo fritter was especially tasty. The only criticism was that the food took ages to come! I’m not sure if we had to wait for...the chef to come in (the kitchen is open plan so we could see) but we weren’t served the food until 45 mins after first entering the restaurant. Mild criticism but the only negative we found. Reasonably priced and good friendly service. A good find!More

My husband popped in to this small “bistro” for a light lunch. We were welcomed by Karen shown to our table, menus offered and drinks taken AND delivered. Actually Karen was the only front of house member and all praise to her. We both chose...the vegetable soup, the presentation was fantastic, absolutely delicious, praise to the chef. We then chose to share the chicken liver with brandy pate, and again the presentation was brilliant as was the taste. Overall the food was first class, the service excellent, the cost very reasonable and Karen deserves a medal!!!More

Dissapointing experience, I'm sorry to say, as I expected a high quality experience, if the in house descriptions on the website are to be taken into consideration. I was greeted and seated as is the in house door policy, however the host overlooked my grubby,...crumb scattered table and took my order as I sat down. If the saying "first impressions..." has any truth or meaning then I should have just ordered a tea, but I was hungry and willing to forgive the slack housekeeping. When my cooked breakfast arrived, it looked rather impressive, three pieces of bacon, two fried eggs, a large mushroom, several small but chunky slices of black pudding, a sausage, baked beans in a mini ramekinand two very thick slices of toast. I declined the hash browns, in my world an unwanted American usperper of the fine tradition of a cooked English breakfast, perhaps good old bubble and squeek implies too much thought process and finesse for some cooks. So all was well until I attempted to slice into the bacon with no sucess as the bacon had been been pre grilled earlier, ( who knows when? ) and then microwaved resulting in a presentation which had a rock hard, dry texture, I tried to ignore this and tried the mushroom. This was saturated to it's gills with grease and was totally inedible. The toast was not toasted just flashed on a grill and lightly charred with burnt scores . So all together not great, I explained to the staff that I was not best pleased and was later told that they could take a quid off my bill. Hmmm. They were pretty busy, but at the end of the day the name of the game is coming up with the goods when busy. It may seem like petty niggles and quibbles to some, but having worked as a chef myself, I was trained to make every morcel count. It seems that cutting corners with fryers and microwaves has become the norm, which makes me sad that some cooks simply don't have the skill or confidence to just get on and cook ingredients properly and excel at it. I'd like to give these folks another chance, but I probably won't, first impressions considered.....More

Ollie and the team catered our wedding for 90 people and couldn’t recommend them more. Everything was delicious and ran so smoothly. They were central to the success of the day serving canapés and drinks at the start of the reception to a three course...sat down meal, to running the bar and serving evening pasties. The team were so lovely and went above and beyond. Couldn’t have been happier, 5* service. Thank you Ollie!More
