Called in for lunch. I had quiche and my husband had beef with Yorkshire pudding. It was lovely and tasty and filling. No dessert needed. Clean cafe. Would visit again when down on holiday again

First visit, good menu from snacks and light bites to cooked lunches - stews, roasts, fish etc. Something to suit everyone. My husband and I had a toasted teacake and chocolate cake. We will be returning, as the dishes being served looked very tempting. A good find, looking forward to a return visit. A Warm welcome and thanks for our... More

We always pop to this cafe for lunch or a coffee but decided to try a good old fry up and we were not disappointed. The service was prompt and friendly. I love the use of local produce with their menu.

Have used this cafe every time I go to Tavistock as it is excellent. Always busy and food really good. You can have meals through to coffee and cake. I had a black americano and a big slice of coffee and walnut cake. Very reasonable price as well. Would really recommend.

We visited recently for a light lunch. A very busy time but lots of lovely young ladies serving. A good menu choice. We where served quickly orders taken then lovely food served. East gate is such a happy place it's always a joy to visit. In summer the outside courtyard is a favourite place to sit.

It was very busy when I went here but the service was good and staff pleasant. They had the usual selection but some different things as well.

I had the grilled goats cheese salad which was delicious but those having fish of the day were rather disappointed especially as they felt the new potatoes had been microwaved and hard. The cafe can feel rather cramped when full.

Nice home cooked food in a cosy atmosphere. Portions are very generous so order carefully. Homemade soup was delicious, and quite "hearty". All round, a pleasant visit and enjoyable food.

On a day trip to tavistock we stopped at the Eastgate café for a snack at lunchtime. The cakes looked delicious and lunches were good sized portions. We chose to have cheese and biscuits each. We were presented with a plate with a large portion each of three Devonshire cheeses. Devon blue, Devon brie and Devon poke. I believe. Absolutely... More
