My wife and I had an excellent Spanish tapas lunch, which was both vegetarian and gluten free. We were impressed by their ability to cope with our needs. The food was of excellent quality and served piping hot. We ordered 5 different tapas and each one was excellent. Though unfortunately not served at the same time. The Café was becoming... More

I went to Cafe Maxsim with a colleague at 2.15 in the afternoon. It was cosy on a freezing cold day. We had coffee but I was still cold from being outdoors so I had some winter vegetable soup. It was delicious. It was homemade soup, tasting like a load of fresh vegetables whizzed up in a blender and beautifully... More

Went with a friend on a gloomy January Saturday lunchtime, searching for flavours to rekindle memories of Mediterranean warmth. The cafe itself is small and unprepossessing, nice and warm (important in January!) with a charming private courtyard area which would be lovely in the summer. I'm a veggie and my companion a meat eater so the five dishes option gave... More

Great food all cooked fresh, friendly service and take your own booze - bonus! We've been here many times and and always a regular. I advise to book though as it does get pretty busy especially at weekends! Great value for money.

Visited on Saturday 14th Jan for my wife's birthday with family & friends . We sat in a lovely area at the back which could have been anywhere in the world with its whitewashed walls and log fire . The food kept coming in good sized portions . Staff are friendly and helpful .

Came for lunch on Christmas eve. Quick service, excellent food in good-size portions, and at reasonable prices. We were allowed to bring our own bottles of wine which kept the prices low too. Would highly recommend

Booked as pre theatre meal after reading other reviews. Booking is essential as there are few tables in this small, cafe style restaurant. The staff were lovely and very accommodating when we arrived quite late and were on a tight timescale. The size of the premises means the menu is limited but it has something for everyone and all of... More

Visited on 3rd December with friends and really enjoyed it. Quite basic, cafe style environment but very pleasant, helpful staff and really tasty food. Plenty of veggie dishes. Took own wine. Would sit towards back if went again. And would love to return again!

Are here before heading to a show on a Saturday evening. First impressions, was very small and wasn't expecting much from the food. We ordered a mixture of dishes for the whole table to share, the food was tasty and full of flavour. The only downfall was the TV playing next to our table showing some sort of gorilla film... More

We come here on a regular basis the staff are always friendly and tentative with the service they provide. The food is always perfect we have never had a bad meal! The chef always gets involved and leaves the kitchen to say hello which we like. We will continue to visit cafe maxim for many years to come 5*
