Enjoyed a bite of lunch here between Xmas & New Year. Good atmospheric feel with real fire - although we couldn't get anywhere close to it ! Friendly service too but the real winner was the food. All we had was a light 'snack' portion of Whitby Scampi & chips each but both scampi & chips were a cut above... More

What a gem of a pub this is! Came across it quite by accident while on holiday in area. Staff are fabulous, so friendly and attentive. We had a meal which was just delicious, my husband had steak and he said it was the best he had tasted anywhere. I had lasagne with home made chunky chips which was absolutely... More

Had a fabulous meal here with beautiful food. Lovely atmosphere and excellent staff and very friendly attentive owner. My fish was yummy but my husband said it was the best steak he had ever had. I had a mouthful and had to agree !

The food at this pub is not bar food it is of restaurant standard and prepared by the landlady, the log fires and smiling faces make a visit here a wonderful experience

Well looked after and the staff are eager to show off this little gem. Welcoming ambience, settings and surroundings with excellent attentive owners and staff, that you can tell are very proud of their reputation. Yes the menu does seem a little expensive but for locally sourced produce and meats then it's worth that little extra. Everything appears to be... More

Incredible place: excellent food, very fast service, friendly staff and a very cozy atmosphere. There was even a nice bonfire! We got a very nice soup, an amazing fillet cooked to perfection and the Sally's pie which was a very tasty home cooked pie. We would be happy to come back.

We stayed at the cottages across the road for theee nights and stopped in here at some point each evening. The food was excellent and very generously portioned. My husband also enjoyed the local ales on offer. The staff were all very welcoming.
