Went to the Ostrich last weekend to walk out after 15 mins trying to get served drinks, even the few locals left in disgust at the chaos and disorder, not sure who was actually in charge over the weekend, but i have never seen so...More

Twelve months on from an incredible first date with some amazing food, I rebooked to propose to my partner. The staff were very friendly and attentive, providing good insight into the menu and food on offer that evening. Decided on the Brazilian steak, it was...More

A very quaint and attractive restaurant that turned out to be a little unexpected gem for visitors from Suffolk who were on their way to Heath row. The menus was quite extensive and had a good variety and choice. The range of beers and wines...More

My wife and I had stayed at The Ostrich before and it had been so good that I decided that it would be a good venue at which we could celebrate her birthday. Although her birthday was not until 5th September I booked the accommodation...More

Fabulous old building ruined by lots of full height glass doors trying to make it more modern Lunch with a friend and her 9 year old, waitress disinterested, didn't listen to order and consequently made 3 errors. Food OK but only just. Wouldn't recommend menu,...More

We were staying at The Ostrich Inn overnight so when we were asked if we'd like to book a table for dinner we said yes as felt it would be more relaxing to be able to eat there than try and find somewhere else. The...More

This is a comfortable pub with pleasant staff. There are tables outside which are nice in the warm weather, but which suffer a little from aeroplane and road noise. The food is good - portions are big, although it is not cheap. There isn't much...More

Description
Believed to date back to the 12th century, The Ostrich on the old Bath to London road, close to Heathrow Airport and Terminal 5, is said to be England's third oldest inn. It's certainly a very fine example of its kind, combining everything you'd expect in a historic coaching inn: beams, nooks, fireplaces, crooked stairs, a cobbled courtyard and an interesting (albeit macabre) history. The chunky contemporary wooden furniture and bright colours come as a bit of a surprise, and work well with the huge, sagging beams, standing timbers and open fires. A wide-ranging menu serves good, freshly prepared food and reflects the demands of the area (the M4 and M25 are very near) and the concomitant mix of people. The specials board changes daily, while a lunch menu that is always ready within 20 minutes. A hearty Sunday lunch menu is served all dy long allowing you to indulge in a proper lie in and still have time for a roast.A private function room upstairs plays host to regular comedy nights and is available for hire for functions.
