If you like Indian food then you are sure to rate the Maharani as one of the best you will find anywhere. We can't recommend the restaurant highly enough the food is simply wonderful. What puts it above the rest is the range of flavours....Each dish is flavoured differently and exquisite, unlike many Indian restaurants where all the curries taste the same. No wonder they win national awards. Until the 17 May they are serving Takeaway food which is as good as ever. Massive selection of dishes all at great prices. If you haven't tried the Maharani, you don't know what you are missing!!!!More

Having found this to be by far the best Indian restaurant in Ipswich by far for many, many years and having always had the most fantastic food, we had our very first extremely disappointing experience today. Placed a telephone order which itself was a painstakingly...slow process, and I was advised that the order would be ready in 20 minutes (usually 30 minutes). Arrived bang on the 20 minutes and spent the next 30 minutes waiting in the restaurant. Got the food home in about 5 minutes, and much of the food was either warm or cold. Some of the food was just about passable but the butter chicken was horrid, the popadoms oily and unpleasant and the onion bahjees tough. Total cost £46 in all not a patch on the tasty, high quality cuisine that we have been used to but using the same menu and at the same price. Clearly the management and chefs are now different, and the most excellent food that we were used to for nearly 20 years has now sadly gone forever. Unfortunately we have decided that the quality was today well below par, and as a result we will not be returning after tonight’s offerings and will try the other curry house just a few doors down. Incredibly disappointed. The end of an era. We wish Manik and his family well and thank them for what was for many years the best Indian food served in Ipswich.More

A loyal customer for many years but this evening was my final visit, the quality of the food has plummetted recently, a dry dupiaza swimming in oil with zero spice detected, it tasted like leftovers and went into the bin. This was my third recent...visit and am lost for words how rapidly the quality and service has detiorated. It used to be the best and only place for a decent Indian in Ipswich but after previously disappointing visits, this was my final chance and they blew it big time. I can only presume they've changed the cooks and management for it to go downhill with such pace but regardless, I'm now done and will find an alternative from hereon.More

There nothing better than a curry on a nice cold New Year’s Day, and nothing better than a Maharani curry. We’ve been to other places but you always realise how good the Maharani is when you go back. Great range of interesting dishes as well...as all the usual ones but always a great meal. The only thing better than a Maharani take away is eating in, but we’ll be back for take aways until we can do that again.More

I was hoping for a nice take away dinner but what I got instead after ordering king prawn curries ( alot more expensive) was small bits of king prawn and a very oily curry sauce which I had to throw away Will not be ordering...from again and hope they learn not to be so tight with King PrawnsMore

We’ve just recently moved to Bramford from Essex and on our first night in our new home we scanned the hundreds of reviews for local restaurants and decided to try Maharani in Ipswich. We are total foodies and have eaten some of the best of...British and further afield. So eating out and ordering in we have like many high standards and often you order a meal to be delivered and are left underwhelmed. Well what a pleasant surprise we found in the Maharani. We told them it was our first night in Suffolk and in our new home and how important our first dip into the Suffolk food arena was for us. I can honestly say we’ve had great Indian takeaways before but the Maharani was on another level. Depth of flavour throughout all of the dishes, the food was delivered in a timely manner and the presentation was A+ !!! They even sent us a couple of complimentary bottles of cobra to welcome us to the area. Now that’s what I call going above and beyond the customer service experience. This restaurant knows how to deliver an incredible food experience. We haven’t had another takeaway since but we will be ordering again tonight and we can’t wait. Because of Covid we can’t visit the restaurant but as soon as restrictions are lifted we’re looking forward to visiting and delving deeper into the Maharani food experience. Please support this wonderful local business.... I promise you won’t be disappointed!!! Thank you team Maharani xMore

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Maharani! The food was fantastic we ordered a range of different dish's and everything was really delicious. I asked for a mild dall the menu only included a hot one but this was no problem at all. The service...was also excellent! We'll look forward to returning again.More
