Well, I must confess that I had to agree with a few of the previous reviews in that this place started to lose it's appeal for me. When it was Il Punto we always had a great meal here but following the transition to Mariners,...More

Good value set lunch, although portion sizes seem to have shrunk of late! Reasonably priced house wines. Unusual setting on a permanently moored boat in the wet dock, The interior, although compact, offers a good degree of comfort. The redevelopment of Ipswich docks has stalled...More

One of Ipswich's best restaurants. The food is always first class. Staff are young French people, very professional in their service. The Maitre'd Denis is always welcoming & friendly.

We went for a birthday treat. it was nice to dress more formally for the occasion and we had been looking forward to it for a while. The service from the start was very good, although it was a busy evening and my girlfriend felt...More

We've been a customer of Il Punto, now Mariners, for over 20 years and have never had a poor meal here. In fact, it's the restaurant that we use as a benchmark for all others in Ipswich. However, our visit last night was a disappointment....More

We have been several times before, and had a good time. Booked for tonight a month ago, and specifically requested a round table.Did not get that! Normally the waitresses are French and with a little bit of give and take we can get what we...More

Eating on a boat always has a certain appeal. Ipswich is trying hard to make itself a more glitzy and upmakret destination, and the re-development of its docks it at the centre of this charm offensive. The floating restaurant is itself at the epicentre of...More

This restaurant was recommended to me by the hotel I was staying at in Ipswich. At first I was a bit dubious about dining on a boat, usually these things are done for the novelty factor and don't have much else. The maitre d' was...More

Within easy walking distance of the town centre, Ipswich's most original restaurant, Mariners, is an antique Dutch customs gunboat, moored along Neptune Quay. You can relax in its wonderful atmosphere and its polished brass ambience. From a quick snack for lunch on the upper deck to a romantic dinner on the lower deck, it is the perfect place for an evening on the sea front.
