We booked a table for 7 pm on Saturday evening for 4. Being early it was fairly quiet but the service was not the best. The venue and kitchen skills made up for it. Lovely Razor Clam ( sadly only the one) and a really...More

We went here for my father in laws 80th Birthday and were looking forward to it as they have eaten here before and enjoyed it, but not us. We waited ages for anyone to ask if we wanted a drink. When we had ordered we...More

I went along with 3 girlfriends and we had a wonderful evening. The boat feels luxurious and the welcome and service were also excellent. The food while good was not wow, although the beef with Roquefort was stunning. Small portion sizes for some but for...More

Service and ambience are good here. Venue is well located and well presented and they would like to look after you. There is just about enough variety on the menu, altough there could be more. The menus change every second month. The lamb as a...More

Excellent, attentive buy obtrusive lunch time service. A reasonably priced beautifully cooked meal with a glass of wine. After the table was brushed followed the clearing of our main course dishes, it seemed churlish not to order dessert and coffee!

We went at lunch time to celebrate a birthday. The fixed price menu was varied and a little different. (3 courses £20.95). A la carte pricier. Our menu choices were delicious, service was friendly. The boat was quiet as it was the day after a...More

We had heard good things about the Mariners and have eaten at their sister-restaurant, the Great House in Lavendon, which is absolutely brilliant. The boat itself is interesting - a bit run-down from the outside but interesting ambience and nice views from the inside. The...More

This was our first visit here and will certainly not be our last. The boat does not look much from the outside, but once inside it is lovely. Certainly one of the best places in Ipswich if you want a romantic candlelit dinner. The food...More

With my birthday approaching, and always desiring to dine on a boat, my boyfriend booked the mariners in celebration of my 22nd birthday. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming, taking our coats and showing us to our seats. The setting is idyllic and...More

Within easy walking distance of the town centre, Ipswich's most original restaurant, Mariners, is an antique Dutch customs gunboat, moored along Neptune Quay. You can relax in its wonderful atmosphere and its polished brass ambience. From a quick snack for lunch on the upper deck to a romantic dinner on the lower deck, it is the perfect place for an evening on the sea front.
