We had the six course tasting menu and were really pleased to find the restaurant extremely flexible in terms of letting one of us opt for a cheese course and the second one opt for dessert so that we could share these courses. The absolute...More

The big menu was as expensive and a big let down. The black spaghetti with truffle could at best go as a garnish. Most of the other servings were easy forgettable. One of the desserts (chocolate mousse with coffee beans) just pain in your mouth.

After waiting several months we finally ate at Statholdergaarden. My wife and myself both had the 6 course dinner and it was great. My wife had some food allergies and the chef modified her dishes to handle this which was done exceptionally well and was...More

Has been at Statholdergaarden at various occasoins! I have never ben disappointed. Chef Stiansen delievers quality in every aspect, making a meal at this nice establishment a wonderful experience. The tasting menu paired with their wine-menu is an excellent “travel” through exciting tastes and combinations.

We has the taste menu with wine menu. The meal consisted of many different tastes and was enjoyble. The wine selection was not according to my taste, the wines were «flat» and did not AS anything to the meal. Allthough enjoyable, I consider the price...More

Great service and great food in historical surroundings. Perfect place for a date or special occasion. If you ask the waiter she or he will tell you about the story of the stukkatur in the ceiling.

Well, what to say? This must be one of the finest restaurants in Oslo, which is why we booked. The setting is in what we took to be an old house, with various rooms for dining. The understated carpeting, crisp white tablecloths and grey walls...More

Really no need to discuss the food, it’s just excellent with some interesting twists like the cheese course of the menu. But also the service really keeps up and that although they had to serve two fairly big groups of people at the same time,...More

Unfortunately, a 30 person anniversary party came in after us. Our meal soon fell behind theirs and it became a 5+ hour frustration instead of an enjoyable experience. Food was inventive and fun...even when it was delayed by 30 minutes or more. Chef appeared for...More

I'm not so concerned about halal. The citchen is typically French, and I do not think they put too much emphasis on halal. Your question is best answered directly from the establishment.

One of the finest gourmet restaurants in Oslo, located in a 17th-century building in the old city centre. The ceiling has some of the finest stucco work in Northern Europe. The chef, Bent Stiansen, won the prestigious chef championship Bocuse d'Or in 1993. Order from the à la carte menu or try the six-course menu of the day. The menu is composed of the best ingredients available at the time Stiansen uses high-quality Norwegian ingredients, coloured by European tradition. Chambre separée for 8-24 persons. In the basement you find the more informal Statholderens Krostue, which is open for both lunch and dinner.
