We had a nice 3 course dinner with the wines. Ok because it's Norway the wines were rather expensive. But nevertheless it was a great experience.

We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary this night, And was heading for a good reputed restaurant where we both had been before - even if it has been some years since last time. They recommended their entrecote ("Town's best" according to waitress). And I went for it, while my spouse ordered breast of duck. I love entrecote. When it... More

The food, wine and service is great in this place. The best thing, however, is the atmosphere. Hundreds of candles light up the stone cellar. The ambience is set by muted music of munks singing. Recommended!

We visited Klosteret in November as a party of four. The restaurant is in a cellar and is nicely presented. We were not greeted on arrival and the staff was neither particularly helpful or attentive throughout. The food was OK but not much more and we have eaten better at gastro pubs at home in the U.K. Oslo is expensive... More

We visited Klosteret for the 4th time this year. As before the dinner, service and atmosphere were outstanding. We highly recommend it and will definitely come back in 2017.

We went to this restaurant at 9 pm and they told us the kitchen was already closed even if on the website the closing time was at half past midnight. The waiter told us that because of the lack of people they decided to close one hour before and he suggested us to go to a restaurant nearby. Let us... More

Hi Eleonora, Thank you for your feedback! I will have a chat with our head waiter to make sure that this kind of requests is handled properly. We have information on our web page that the kitchen closes at 10 pm, except for Mondays when it closes at 9 pm. When you arrived to the restaurant the kitchen had already... More

This restaurant is the perfect place in Oslo for couples. It's location is convenient to the city centre and the ambience is very intimate. With candles lit and perfect meals, the night out with your significant other couldn't get much better. Had a terrific time there. The staff were very knowledgable of the meals and appropriate wine pairings. Every meal... More

A great atmosphere In this restaurant. It was quite a sophisticated restaurant and the menu is relatively limited, with about 7 main courses to choose from but the quality of food was magnificent. Set in an old wine cellar and is lit mainly by candle light which is a very nice touch and fits the aesthetics. The restaurant is very... More

We were 5 : 3 Norwegians and 2 Brits. The restaurant was new to all of us. Descending into the cellar dining room the place had immediate charm. The illumination is mostly candlelight and it created a warm ambiance. In such lighting the table was intimate. Although offered a choice of an a la carte menu or the 'degustation' we... More

Description
Klosteret is situated in central Oslo - Hammersborg, beside the Deichmanske Main Library. The menu has a wonderful combination of continental and French dishes and the wine list is impressively diverse. The name Klosteret translates as The Monastery and there is a touch of the divine in the old brick arches lit by hundreds of candles and wonderfully calm atmosphere. A unique setting for a meal with colleagues, a romantic evening out or for guests from abroad - an unforgettable experience. The restaurant also has a Chambre Separée for private parties.
