the food was very average, and a simple fish soup was decorated with an opulent french title, which caused the price jumping to unbelievable heights, the meat was not prepared tastefully and the service was restrained. We wanted to have a nice french cuisine dinner, but got a big disappointment instead.Definitely not recommended

We recently had dinner with friends at this lovely restaurant. The wait staff were very friendly and the service was great, which is such a nice thing to find in Vienna. The food was excellent. The prawn cocktail salad that I had as an appetiser was very tasty and made with extremely fresh ingredients. My main course of mussels and... More

We reserved a table via their website and were warmly welcomed on arrival. We were given the option to eat inside or on the street terrace. We opted for inside and were seated next to a window looking out to the terrace seating. Good for people watching. The service was friendly and professional without being invasive. Food options were good...fish,... More

We think that their beef tartare is one of the best in Vienna. Good lunch menus and nice ambiance in the restaurant.

There are not many French restaurants in Vienna, and le Salzgries is said to be one of the best in Austria. This is definitely true, very typical French bistro food, a bit pricy maybe but worth the money. The oysters were exceptionally fresh, one of the best I've ever eaten. Definitely a place to recommend. After my fancy the interieur... More

Vienna has very good fish Restaurants, but mainly mediteranian style. We wanted for a Change, lobster, Oysters, mussels etc.like in France. We were not disappointed however the dishes can not be compared with a Restaurant in Paris. The Prices are rather high, Service friendly and helpful, waiting time for theorder reasonable.

I have heard that Le Salzgries is supposed to be the best French restaurant in Vienna. Having lived in Paris for almost two years, I really hope that Le Salzgries is not the best French restaurant in Vienna. The interior is not well decorated, the ambiance is not inviting - as tables are very close to each other, there is... More

I go there quiet often and I was never disappointed. The perfect harmony between food friendly but not to sophisticated service. Almost familiar . The quality of the product is high end. The price ist compared to this in a reasonable section. It is not only about the seafood but about the meat. If it´s lamb, beef or duck, always... More

A great disappointment the menu was very fish oriented, it was expensive, my wife and I had two courses each and a total of three glasses of wine, cost 98.5 euro. Service was slow

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
