We have dined at the Amerling twice, both times on the late side (because of a delay in ou flight and, the second night, a late music event). The building has more than one entrance, and tables in a small garden or yard, and indoors, suitable for any weather; there are areas for smokers and non smokers. The atmosphere is... More

The food was okay, not sensational but still very good. Moderate to high prices, but definitely affordable. The waiter was very friendly and seemed to love his job - big plus! Worth a visit if you're in the area, not a must-eat-at place though.

I love it best in summer when you can sit in the spacious cobblestone yard with its lush vegetation. When a summer thunderstorm once surprised me there, I witnessed a lovely piece of probably historic Imperial technology: a three-part glass roof covering the whole yard within 5 minutes! The atmosphere has a very agreeable "alternative" touch that goes back to... More

A friend from Wien introduced to this lively busy place, which is part bar and part seated restaurant. The goulash was really great, and you can buy mulled wine :)

Very good service - waitress very attentive (not sure if my boyfriend made just a good impression ...) and fast. Food really good - I can especially recommend the Backhendl salad. Price level just appropriate - this is more a local community restaurant (students, Generation Y ) than a tourist place. Environment more basic - in summer the inner patio... More

This lovely updated 'heuriger' is just perfect for a lazy lunch on a sunny day in the heart of Spittelberg, close to the MQ. Food is quintessentially Viennese, with delicious schnitzels, while the cosy terraced courtyard makes it one of the sweetest spots in town. Although usually quite busy, this café-restaurant always keeps the cultured and historical quietness that makes... More

I recommend this place to everyone visiting Vienna. Food is good, service also and it is not expensive. It has a great terrace possible to enjoy even when its called.

I would say that the nicest thing about this place is the ambient, which is pretty different from any other restaurant in Vienna. Besides that, the food we had there was below the average of the city... not very tasty. One thing that I highlight is that our table was right next to its internal garden, and the garden was... After investing 45 minutes to wait for a table, we finally left without ordering dinner. The host and bartender were extremely non-communicative and disinterested in serving us. Americans should avoid this restaurant

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
