Being yelled at for Asking for the menu !!!! It never happened to me before the least I can say is that I was horrified , having traveled in so many places in different countries this is the first time am facing such a situation.... It is really unfortunate for such a Historical coffee that exist since 1618 . The manager should choose his employees carefully , and fire the uneducated, unprofessional, impolite ones.More

We arrived on time for a 1945 reservation. The entire restaurant seemed to be in a state of chaos with staff rushing hither and thither like berserk crack fueled lemmings. After being studiously ignored we finally managed to stop someone to tell them we had...arrived. We were marshaled into a short corridor where we were left while frantic enquiries were made. We were finally told the table wasn’t ready and when we asked how long it might be there was a shrug of the shoulders and a response of ‘maybe 20minutes, I don’t know’. We were then marched from the corridor to the bar area where we were told to wait. No apology, no offer of a drink. At one point a frenzied waiter physically moved my daughter out of his way as he passed and another of the staff grabbed my arm and moved it off the bar. Finally after an uncomfortable 10 minutes of being stared at by both staff and clientele, we were offered a table in the bar area. We could only order from the bar menu which was limited to around three starters and three mains. The table was next to the door to the kitchen and for the entire duration of our meal staff were passing in and out, kicking the door to open it and crashing past our table. We were offered a complementary bottle of wine and the manager of the bar area was very understanding and was the only member of staff who was not actively rude to us. The food was adequate but served with little attention to detail. The beef came with a very curious green sludge which had clearly been thrown on the plate from some distance. Over the course of the meal this developed an interesting dry crust which added to its allure. I recommend this place if you enjoy being first ignored and then manhandled by serving staff and if culinary chaos is what you are after. And bugger me they had the audacity to ask if I wanted to leave a tip.More

We used to love this place very much, but after recent experiences I have to say “AVOID AT ANY TIME “. We made reservation 3 weeks ago and when we arrived we were told (after waiting 40 minutes) that you can order no more than...2 courses (in the past you could order the whole menu at late night), so we made reservation for tonight and when we arrived, they made mistake with the reservation and they didn’t try to apologize but accused us for faking the reservation. It is absolutely disgusting what they make…More

If you want to eat in one of those restaurants that are part of Vienna's history, this is the place. Beautiful upscale brasserie style restaurant, old style that charms you. We had our Wiener schnitzel and a beef stew (sorry, can't remember the name), both...delicious. Outstanding petite fours !!! try the one with the pink fondant (it has alcohol), everything was delicious. We sat inside but there is a lovely terrace also. Must go !More

Founded in the 17th Century, the Kamel is a Viennese institution. We were a group of 26, and ate in a private room. Despite our numbers, the food was well prepared and attractively presented. The locationis conveniently central.

A hip & slick restaurant in an upmarket Tourist section in Vienna. Very stylish interior decor. Nice food. However, BEWARE of the Waiter who adds phantom items to your Bill. Our Waiter spoke good English, until ... we requested our Bill. Then in very rapid...German, it sounded like he was listing what we'd ordered. Then he printed an invoice from a small machine oin his Waiter's hip-pouch. But that only gave us the Total amount. In trust, we paid that, before we realised he'd overcharged us. We sought an itemised invoice. After 30 seconds, he returned with that. We challenged the itemised Bill because it listed two expensive aperitif drinks 🍸 at the ... end of the Bill. We pointed this out. With smooth contempt, he quietly acknowledged this, and gave us a cash refund of their cost. This poisoned an otherwise fun experience.More

As a team of Viennese culinary experts in search of tourists’ hotspots we tested the Wiener Schnitzel. Traveller take note: the veal schnitzel is the worst you can find in the city. It is ultra thin, dry and leather like veal in extra hard breadcrumbs...“Panier” coating. This is not what it should be. Avoid the schnitzel. Choose “Gulasch”, “Leberkäs” or from the various canapés from the cold buffet.More

There is a sign that reads 'Stand here if you want to be seated outside' .. so we waited.. but as soon as a table opened up, people from behind us rushed in and grabbed the table. And the waiter was clueless and let them...sit down. There is no receptionist to see who is in line first. This was my first Schnitzel ever, but the service just left a bad taste. The dessert was good though.More

Food was really good and so was the atmosphere. It was in the middle of a shopping district. The service was okay. However they were busy. I just wasn't a fan on asking for more water consistently.
