Typical austrian food with a very good quality. Everything was really tasty, we took a beef sope and the wiener schnitzel that were a perfect choice. Service very attentive, they even always kept an eye on our baby.

On the way to the hotel from the train station, I asked our cab driver where he would recommend for a place to eat. He recommended Plachutta for excellent Austrian cuisine. On our first day in Vienna, we decided to give it a try. We didn't think to make a reservation and when we arrived for dinner, the place was... More

This place is overrated placewith terrible service. May be food is ok but i have no chance to check it. When i come to this place with reservation they tell me only big table is available and i should pay in addition for four empty seats on my table. They even can't answer to the simple question - "How much... More

Wine I would recommand is Gelber Muskateller, it is a dry austrian wine, ideal for summer. And as sweet,... More

Tafelspitz is the Austrian boiled beef dish that Kaiser Franz Josef is supposed to have eaten every day (not true, as it happens) You go here for Tafelspitz and if you don't like boiled beef, go somewhere else This is our fourth visit over the years, It does not change, except to get more crowded and expensive. But it's worth... More

My friend and I found out about Plachutta through a recommendation (another foodie). We had the tafelspitz with the original side dishes. It felt like home, mums cooking. The prices were good for the amount of food we received and the service was amazing, very welcoming even though we did not have a reservation.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
