Came for the famous tafelpitz and a beer, and I guess you have to try it at least once if you're in Vienna. Perfect execution and presentation. Amiable and efficient staff. My only *beef* would be that I was alone and asked for a table for one but was seated at a long table for 6 persons where a couple... More

This place is recommended by the locals, and it is said to serve the best Wiener Schnitzel in town. The order comes in a large piece of Schnitzel with a small side of sour potatoes (it went well with the pork). Price is quite pricy comparing with other places nearby, but it's worth the experience. Wiener Schnitzel cost 19.79 euros;... More

I have been there with my mother and my son. We enjoyed the best Tafelspitz ever! Since then, every time we visit Wien We have to pay a visit to Plachutta, as well. Amazing food, very good service, nice atmosphere...in only a few words :a place to remember!

If you are Vegetarian, you should probably stay away from Plachutta! This is THE most famous Tafelspitz-place in Vienna! Reservation highly recommended - otherwise you might need to wait for an hour to get a table. We went with friends and we were blown away by the quality of service and the outstanding quality of food! We had the classic... More

Went there on a Friday night. We ordered appetizer. As the servant came straight with the main course he started to argue that we didn't order an appetizer. Then some more servants came and well all of them arguing that we didn't order an appetizer! I was quite shocked how they reacted in that situation. Anyways we stayed with the... More

It's important that you make a reservation for this restaurant, since it's very popular. Even on Mondays! We were lucky and got a table for 2, ordered the famous "Tafelspitz". Absolutely a real experience, both because of the nice staff as well as the delicious meal. If you have the chance: try it!

We were told to find a restaurant in Vienna that excelled for their Schnitzel and although Plachutta was not the one they meant, it was the one we found, as we asked for recommendations. Their Schnitzel was top notch and large, their prices on the high side, but the quality and quantity made it worth it.

I was referred here by a local and was very pleased with my meal. Since I was alone I thought the boiled beef "stew" would be too much so tried the Tafelspitz in a kind of red wine cream sauce. It was delicious and the veal was tender like a pot roast. Meat was very high quality and served with... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
