Really must visit. It serves the most delicious apple strudel. You also have to indulge yourself by ordering the Viennese coffee. You can work off all those calories by walking around this stunning city afterwards! It will be worth it!

It was our fourth visit to this Viennese culinary landmark and as usual we found this restaurant & patisserie amazing. We enjoyed the rich traditional soft boiled eggs breakfast served with a basket of delicious freshly baked buns and croissants. We also enjoyed the Demel...More

The place is nice and makes you imagine the awesome talks that took place here in glorious times. But on the other hand the service is terrible, looks like waiters don't want to serve you, they don't smile at all. The goods are really really...More

I have been to Vienna for a couple of hours while going to Prague from Budapest. I have searched for the bests cafes in Vienna and Demel was one of the top results. I don't know if it is a usual case but the cakes...More

For my tastes, this place had the best sacher torte out of the ones that I tried. Also had good Melange. The place has wonderful goodies in a glass case and packaged to go. Bought my nieces some cookies for back home and they really...More

We went in for Lunch today because we saw the restaurant featured on a travel show. It was NOT A Disappointment. Sat upstairs next to the window in an iconic art nouveau room under a beautiful ornate glass chandelier (Murano?) We originally went for the...More

I'll admit, we went for the name, and I'm glad we did! You can sit up at the coffee bar, outside, back in the cafe, or take it to go. There are a ton of torte options as well as other goodies. We stopped in...More

Two level cafe, very busy on the weekends and has some excellent deserts and ice creams. Has a great souvenir area with chocolates, fudge, etc. Worth a visit but expect delays.

This is a wonderful coffee shop. The apple strudel was superb and the Viennese iced coffee was delicious.

We stopped by Demel's to get goodies to take home. They do offer some on site eating but there are just a few out front tables and a counter inside. It was all full when we were there. They have many of their items packaged...More

Yes - I assume you can as there were tables with reserved signs on them when I visited.
Heading to Vienna in a few weeks. Not fans of super strong coffee, we are used to Nescafé in North America with a little milk. What kind, or how should we order, our coffee in Vienna? Suggestions welcome!!!

First of all the portions are much smaller in Europe so you wont' get as much as in the USA unless you are talking espresso which is sounds like you aren't. Why not just get a cappuccino which is coffee with milk?
