I have been to Bertolotto multiple times and it has been a solid consistent quality. The gelato is smooth and the flavors excellent. Paired with the fact that they have some great traditional Italian desserts (tiramisu, profiteroles, ...), as well as traditional Austrian desserts (strudel), this is the perfect place for a sweet fix. My only gripe – and, to... More

This little gelato place just up behind the Museum Quarter is worth the walk up the hill. Set in a high street of shops, it offers friendly service, late night opening and a menu of spectacular desserts. A "becher" - a wafer cup - of two flavours of gelato is only 3Euros something and they PILE it high. One evening... More

Delecious ice cream flavours, quick service, the best break from shopping! Even if there is no table available, you can enjoy a cone to-go! There are lactose free options as well. Good prices.

My husband and I got two cones with pistacchio and coffee ice cream. They were both delicious!!! I was also surprised that they bake Italian biscuits called "Brutti ma buoni" (Ugly but tasty) which I never saw outside of Italy.

It was heaven on Earth! The portions are unbelievably large and cheap for their size. I actually got a full stomach by eating one ice-cream, which never happens! The lady that served us was great, very helpful and happy to serve us, although it took us a while to choose from all the variaties of ice! Definitely go there if... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
