We were led to believe the heurige were a cluster of charming wine taverns in a village-like atmosphere, with great Viennese buffets. We spent €30 taking Uber to and from our hotel in central Vienna, arriving in a quiet, desolate part of the city. Staff...More

Some reviewers have complained about this being touristy - of course it is, what did they expect. However that doesn't stop it being enjoyable. We found the Staff friendly and helpful, especially Ava. The food was interesting, well cooked and plentiful and the wine was...More

Absolutely incredible venue, especially for Beethoven enthusiasts. Order a wine tasting and the seasonal pumpkin soup, or pumpkin ravioli. And be sure to see my friend Jan, he is such a character, and makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable!!

We visited primarily to taste their gemischtersatz wine which had been recommended and to have dinner in a traditional heurige. The setting is totally seductive and with a reference to Beethoven thrown in it is hard to resist. However, be under no illusion once you...More

The food was actually ok, but the waiter was so unfriendly and rude / condesending that it ruined a nice meal. Other staff seem nice and realise how rude their colleagues is. Would not go back. There are other places where management would not tollarerate...More

Although a 20 minute taxi ride from central Vienna, this is well worth the trip in summer. We ate outside in the courtyard with vines overhead and an accordionist playing. The wine (from the restaurant's own vineyards) was excellent and the food very good -...More

Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most
romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its
many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby
Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls
through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of
a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are
Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns,
and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill –

The tradition-steeped "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" winery, the epitome of Viennese Heuriger culture, has been producing the best Viennese wines since 1683 in Heiligenstadt. In 1817, Ludwig van Beethoven lived in the romantic listed suburban home on Pfarrplatz. During his time in Heiligenstadt he worked on his greatest creation: Symphony No. 9. Homemade spreads and sweet dishes, plus traditional Heuriger cuisine handed down through generations, coupled with new seasonal culinary delicacies, such as Mayer’s asparagus cordon bleu or onion roast made with organic beef, delight our guests and have also earned our "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" Heuriger AMA gastro accreditation. The cosy premises; our sunny terrace under grape vines and walnut trees; and our original Viennese Heuriger music (every day from 7pm) make the "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" a truly unique experience. We have our own children's play area for our younger guests. Our snugs are ideal for celebrations with between 10 and 450 guests. We are very happy to give you an tailored quote, whether you want to celebrate a graduation, wedding or birthday.
