Situated near Stephansplatz this is perhaps the most representative of the Viennese coffee culture venue. Wide range of coffees and deserts served by serious (not smiling much) traditionally-dressed waitresses. Apfelstrudel (€3.70) Häferlkaffee (Viennese style coffee - €4.00) and Sachertorte (€3.80) are the recommended items.

Came here for apfelstrudel, ended up eating goulash (quite tasty), apfelstrudel (not the best one ever) and coffee (nice one). Interior is old fashioned, waitresses are also dressed in old fashioned dresses. Service is quite good.

We dropped in here to warm up with tea on a cold day. The first floor has the candy shop and the upstairs has a lovely, old world coffee shop. The service was great, the deserts were delicious, and best hot cocoa ever.

It is an oassis in the most famous shopping district of Vienna. You can enjoy a nice coffee or drink and have a delicious lunch or torte!! You have to pay a visit there once you are in Vienna.Whatever we eat or drink was fresh and tasteful, the service is excellent and the staff very frendly.

I love Heiner since I was little. I allways eat Gaensefoot my favorite cookie at Heiner. Nice place in the middle of the city. Go there if visiting Vienna.

Based on a visit in the upper floor I can only say: It's ok, at least the service and the coffee/sweets, but the atmosphere was so touristy and the place has not a big charme, especially when you compare it to other classic/traditional cafes in Vienna (e.g. Prückel or Sperl). If you are in Vienna and will only go to... More

I went to this tearoom primarily to try out apple strudel. The place was wonderfully decorated downstairs and the dining area is located upstairs. There is no free WiFi provided at this tearoom. The service was pretty fast as our food came was served in no more than 10 minutes after we placed our order. We ordered the apple strudel... More

Tasteful old fashioned decor. Efficient service by waitresses dressed in traditional attire. Spoilt for choice and felt like a child in a sweetie shop as all the cakes looked delectable. We sat upstairs. The staff were friendly and patient as I couldn't decide on which cake to try! In the end opted for a chocolate walnut concoction which was yum.... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
