Great place for a strudel and a cup of coffee or tea. Friendly authentic atmosphere, enormous choice of all-you -could-imagine sweets, pastries and cakes. Recommended!

Since there are quite a few Oberlaa locations, I was hoping I'd eventually bump into one while in Vienna, and I did! I was excited to see quite a few gluten free options for me to choose from, but I decided on the Höllander cake (milk chocolate mousse, candied orange accents, rolled in almond slivers) to take with me on... While you're there, make sure to enjoy both the main dishes AND deserts. Several vegetarian options available. A full lunch is served at the upstairs restaurant. The only downside is that I had to ask for the check 5 (!) times and waited for it for overall ~20 minutes...

Stopped here on the Saturday afternoon before Easter, which was a busy time, but we were able to get a table without a wait and were treated to some great desserts and Melanger coffee and hot chocolate.

Delicious cakes and coffee in the centre of Vienna. My son apologised to his mother before saying that his was the best gluten-free cake he'd ever tasted! Not cheap of course, but worth the indulgence.

Situated just minutes from the Imperial Crypt (also worth a visit!), this lovely cafe offers a wealth of delicious cake and savoury options for those with or without diet restrictions. As a Coeliac I had at least four choices of cakes, including Esterhaźy Schnitte (a hazelnut layer cake with icing), and three different chocolate cakes. There were also lactose free... More

Sacher torte & black forest gateaux meant we were in heaven. Delightful staff & very reasonable prices - €14 for the 2 cakes & 2 sparkling waters. Nice premises too with a good display of the cakes to help you make your choice.

After walking around the 1st District, get your energy back with a snack (toast, soup, salads, schnitzel, pasta) and beautiful cakes. Austrian Knoedel and Kaiserschmarren also offered, a sweet dish which easily goes through as a filling main dish.

It's a nice cafe where you could have a cup of tea/coffe and some cake. Desserts are fresh but standard and nothing special. We were in the evening, there were a lot of people and tired staff.

Thank Olga S

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
