First and foremost, you should probably attempt at making a reservation. With that said, I saw where a group of 4 who did make a prior reservation be told their table was given away. So making a reservation is not guaranteed that your table will be waiting for you. Why? Because the place is that popular. We didn't have a reservation so our wait was approximately 30-45 minutes. After being seated it took another 15 minutes for us to receive a menu and another 10 minutes to order. Taking in the work of the staff, they simply don't know how to delineate duties. The hostess also was a waiter, a bus person, and the person who answered the phone for those seemingly rare reservations. Regardless, no matter how understanding one can be it was awhile to wait after waiting to be seated. Other diners were also quite noticeable in their displeasure with the service, even though the pizzas come out fast by any standard. If you order an appetizer be prepared to wait another 30 minutes for your pizza. The price - let me first say that I've lived in Italy for a total of 4 years. I've eaten VERY good pizza. This isn't better but it is good. What is not even close are the prices that are charged for a pizza. I even saw a family sit down after waiting for who knows how long only to leave after seeing the menu and the prices being charged. It was my choice what I ordered and paid for so I am only saying that be prepared for much higher prices than normally seen. Overall, not bad but not the best. I suppose if you live in a town not known for their pizza it is the best you've had. But if you've lived in Italy and had the best from the best than it's not that special for the price. I do have to say their decor is really nice.

Dear Michael, First of all we thank you for your visit and your review. I’m really surprised to read that the “staff doesn’t know to delineate duties”. “Bus Person”. Can I afford to ask you some questions? What do you know about our staff’s duties and responsibilities in order to judge it? What you can know about the reservation of “a group of 4 who did make a prior reservation be told their table was given away” are you serious? If you have no idea about what is going on, how you can judge it and talk about? And once more “ Other diners were also quite noticeable in their displeasure with the service” ?? These are only your impressions and it’s totally unfair to write it like real facts. You don’t know anything about it. And again “ I even saw a family sit down after waiting for who knows how long only to leave after seeing the menu and the prices being charged.” What do you know about it??? About the prices our pizza start from €8,90 up to €17,50 Everything is written on our menu and once more is totally unfair to paint us like extremely expensive restaurant. Once you read a menu you are more than aware about what you’ll are going to order. Only for your information all the ingredients we use are from Italy which are subjects at export prices. By the way, this is the strangest and most bizarre review I have ever read, I would be more than happy to meet you in person in order to show you the the magnificence of our Team, brand and our products. Please feel free to contact me at viatoledoenopizzeria@gmail.com we could grab a coffee together. Un Carissimo Saluto

This place has been awarded a “Best Pizza” award and it is well deserved. After living in Vienna for 5+ years and sampling dozens & dozens of pizza joints, this one is exceptional. Wonderful pizza dough, great ingredients, and clearly an oven that makes magic happen. The restaurant is well appointed, a cut above most pizza places. Prices run from €8 to €18, reasonable for the superior quality. My only warning - our party picked the wine pairing recommendation on the menu (no prices listed) and were quite surprised when the bill arrived. Sooo check before. The staff is young and friendly. But not well trained. Inconsistent and unorganized, seating customers on top of one another while tables are empty. They are clearly a team, but need to focus on their customers a bit more. 5 Stars for pizza quality, 4.5 for prices, 4 for the staff, 5 for the facility, overall: 5. A must for pizza aficionados!

Via Toledo seem to be extremely popular place, so reservation is certainly recommendable. The service is very Italian and so is the food. The pizzas were just great - one of the best I've ever eaten. My pizza was a white one but I tasted typical tomato based pizza, too and it was delicious as well.

Via Toledo assigns you a time slot for your dinner when you reserve a table for high turnover. When you get there, however, there is a wait for your table because waiters are just running around with the food and seem to have no time to assign you a table. It takes time and is shortening your dinner time even more. The waiters seem disorganised and stressed, which makes the customer feel more like a disturbance than a valued customer. The decor and ambiente is simply not very attractive, and the noise level is very high. Tables are too close (especially in times of corona). There is no menu card, you need to scan a code an retrieve the menu with your phone. This is simply stupid. Most guests struggled to read the card from their phones and not everyone can use this option. The waiters gave us a dismissive response to our request for a real menu card, just grabbed my phone and started scanning. You don't just take people's phone! We were not fast enough with our order, again scrolling on the phone all the way to the drinks takes a bit of time, so the waiter took the food order and decided we should have 2 glasses of water, wouldn't wait for our drinks order. We had to order later separately. We got a wrong food order, the waiters also came twice with food which didn't belong to our table. The pizza was really good but by that time we could not really enjoy it anymore because everything leading up to it was such a bad experience. At a most, I would come back for a takeaway but will certainly not book the restaurant again or recommend to a friend.

In the heart of Josefstadt you will find Via Toledo. Good luck trying to get a table. Reserve in advance by sending an email, you can't get through on the phone. On weekends you will get a two-hour slot, not unusual for North Americans, but quite unusual for Vienna. The effort is well worth it, the pizze are amazing, (the bruschetta is OK, but one can find better in Vienna) and the service is very friendly. Prizing is perhaps a bit on the high side, but we're talking Euro 1 - 2 more than in another pizzeria. The Pizzaiolo (who I believe is also the owner/manager) just won a World Championship competition in Italy, so he knows what he's doing. Definitely worth a visit.

The reputation of this establishment is overrated. The setting is certainly pleasant and the food is of good quality, but this establishment suffers from two major problems: 1) the prices are exorbitant (resulting in poor quality/price ratio) and 2) the menu is absolutely not suitable if the we go there with children. No dishes are in fact intended for children. Beyond that, the service is average (long waiting time before being offered a table, waiting again before receiving the cards, forced smiles from the waiters, etc.). There is no shortage of pizzerias in 8. Bezirk, so choose another establishment if you are accompanied by children and/or don't want to break the bank...

We came here after we read an article rating this place as the Nr. 31 Pizza restaurant in the world and got disappointed. We booked the table 3 weeks ahead and were already at the booking informed that there would be a 1,5 hour serving window. The 1,5 hour reservation window leads to a very stressful atmosphere. As soon you sit down, the waitress pushes for the decision on drink and food. We didn´t really have time to look properly at a very confusing menu. We just opted for a pizza to safe time in the end. No adjustments to toppings on the pizza possible. All in all a very disappointing experience and I actually had better neapolitanian pizzas before.

We planned to celebrate Daughter's Birthday. 18 years. Booked a table online. Indicated "Birthday". We arrived just in time to place our order and enjoy delicious food and drinks. After 1.5 hours, when we ordered dessert, the waiter asked us to leave the restaurant. None of the staff warned us that we had to eat their pizza very quickly. Via Toledo Enopizzeria made my daughter's birthday tough. I will dissuade everyone from visiting this place. Pizza is delicious and very very very bad service. Conclusion, we are not going back to via Toledo We will forget this restaurant.

Delish. So good. Even when it's cream sauce (I usually prefer tomato based) and aubergine (I usually prefer something with ham but my friend was vegetarian). Chewy neapolitan crust, super thin base, whatever the toppings you know it'll be great. Arancini was artistically plated, passable but not quite the taste I was looking for still. The Fennel Apple salad was outstanding, refreshing and amazing how they were able to slice the apple to that fine-ness. Even the bottled Lemon Tea was perfect. Service was on point too. The server saw our table was full and brought a stand to lift the pizza, creating more space on the table. Best to make reservations in advance, it's so easy to do so online via their website.

Not very serviceminded staff My friends and I had booked a table for 21:00. In the end we endeed up being 4 instead of 3 guests. We arrived and the staff told os it would not be posible to put up an extra chair at the table with the reason that, some guests might find it offensive. We were left with the choice to leave or bring the pizza home. We chooze to bring the pizza home. While waiting we saw plenty of tables with extra chairs and several tables empty and with room enough for 4, but we were not offerend the table. We brought the food home and that was delicious, but we all agreed that the service of the staff was not attentive of flexible at all

Came here for lunch and were happy with our choice. Run by Italians like it should. Kind personnel, good wines and the pizzas are astonishing. Especially the signature/ chef’s special pizzas. Quite a high price for a pizza but the unique taste and combination of ingredients made sure we loved every bite of it.

3.5/5 In Via Toledo, guests get excellent pizza, but at pretty steep prices. While the cheaper versions are in the now normal range of ~15 euros, specialty pizzas can cost more than 20-25 euros. Whether these prices are justified or not is up for debate, quality also has its price. However, in the upper class segment, you also expect the appropriate surroundings, which unfortunately was not there to a sufficient extent during our visit. First the positive, all the pizzas were really very good and quickly brought to the table, I would definitely give them 4.5 stars. The staff were friendly throughout, if not very attentive, the decoration and furnishings are also tasteful and appealing. Unfortunately, you can hardly enjoy this, as the seating in the restaurant is quite close together and the enormous noise doesn't really make it feel cozy. The lemon soda was unfortunately the weakest I had to enjoy last year, flat mineral water with a small hint of lemon, which is actually unacceptable in a place like this. One of the other drinks was also initially served incorrectly, even though the waiter specifically asked again. Overall, it was a pretty nice evening with good food, but you don't need to come here more often, especially because you can get pizza of a similar standard elsewhere in Vienna. 3.5/5

I'm eating the pizza as I write this. I'm sat outside in the warm August evening air with a beer and my pizza. I didn't have to queue at all (Thurs, 915pm) and the service was prompt. Yes, the pizza is good but I wouldn't say out if this world. I'm still searching for the perfect Napolitano pizza. The base is sloppy in the middle and crisp and light around the outside. The tomato sauce is not too tangy, not too sweet. I put a little chilli oil on mine to bring up the flavour but that's probably my personal taste. No salt or ground pepper on the table, nor was I asked, which is a bit lax in my book. €18.20 for the pizza and a Stella.

Exquisite Neapolitan pizza, not too heavy, with genuine ingredients. Fairly large place with dim lights but still very noisy when full. Very busy waiters, not really attentive. €3 for adding olives to the pizza seems a bit much to me.

Good food, good service, but after about 2 hours we were asked to vacate the table because other guests were already waiting for their reservations. I had ordered a small apple juice beforehand - a large one (0.5l) came - which I was forced to drink down very quickly so that we could leave. Apparently they have so many guests that they can give the tables to multiple people and can more or less throw out people who stay seated too long. I don't think much of this new method of making more sales at the expense of the comfort of the individual guest. This was my last visit to this restaurant - a shame because the food is really good.

Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
