What a great restaurant to celebrate my birthday!! Florian, our waiter, took such special personal care of us.. translating the menu ..we loved the 3 course early dinner. Amazing flavors and presentation..close to our hotel..in Prater district..closed on Sunday & Monday nights. We highly recommend this beautiful dinner option.

I can not say more about our wonderful evening at Restaurant Tempel tonight. We had no reservation but despite them hosting a Latin Music night they went above and beyond and were so accommodating and welcoming!. We enjoyed a wonderful 3 course set menu and it was delicious. The restaurant was packed and the waiter clearly extremely busy! Despite this... More

Tucked away in a courtyard off Praterstrasse. What a find! The owner spoke excellent English and went through everything on the menu with us. Although we arrived at about 8pm he said he was happy to serve the 'Early Bird' choice if we wished and we eventually decided on this. Other choices on the menu were very good and very... More

My friend found the restaurant through Bib Gourmand, the Michelin guide for less formal fine dining at more reasonable prices. Tempel more than earned its place on this list. The food here was amazing, the wine pairings well chosen. The food here was a very welcome change from Wienerschnitzel and goulash. Continental dishes with an Austrian flare and local ingredients.... Restaurant hidden in forecourt in 2 district- what a gem The menu though not extensive is varied - they specialise in 5course tasting menu for which a healthy appetite would be a requirement. We were offered a small starter andive with a piece of salmon and a piece of trout - very tasty. We shared a hot cheese starter which... More

We booked here after reading reviews and realising that it was close to our hotel. We are glad that we had as we had a great night. We went early (7.00 pm) and had the early bird 3 course menu. It was a limited menu but had locally sourced meat, fish or vegetarian main courses. The starters were good and... More

I love this restaurant, it's tucked away in a little courtyard in Vienna's 2nd district, the food takes a while, one needs time, but everything on my daily menu (which I chose) just oozed tastiness. worth the wait. Kind and friendly staff. relaxed but exclusive, really really like this place and will definitely be going back.

Tucked away into a small courtyard off a busy unfashionable street makes for a pleasant surprise. the ambiance is rustically elegant with few tables. Have been several times for lunch and dinner and had the set menu each time. if there is something one doesn't like they are always willing to change it for something else just as good. One... More

During a visit to Vienna, my husband and I were referred to this restaurant by the concierge at our hotel. We wanted a tasting menu experience and many fine dining restaurants are closed on Saturday night. The chef came to our table to discuss the menu options with us, which was quite the treat. The food and service was excellent.... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
