We went without booking. The restaurant was busy but had a great atmosphere (and no canned music) filled we the sounds of people dining and enjoying themselves. Luckily, the friendly staff found us a table but our lagers took some time to arrive - it...More

We were very lucky to get a table as there was a late cancellation the exact moment we walked through the door - booking is definitely advised to avoid a lengthy wait. Slightly strange ambience as you are dining in what looks like the middle...More

We went here because it consistently gets rave reviews. Risotto was undercooked as was my steak (I ordered medium well). The wine list was fantastic, and the service was pleasant and efficient. A busy place but it seems a tad overrated.

Traditional Styrian/Austrian cuisine. Nice atmosphere and good service. Don´t go there if you want to lose your weight :-)! But excellent food and delicious beer!

Really good food, waiters are nice and very polite as well. It is in the centre of the city, but prices aren't high like in the other restorants around. Stuff speaks english excellent so there aren't any language barrier.

Der Steirer has both a fabulous restaurant and a great wine/food store. They have a great selection of Styrian Wines from the Weinstraße, which is just down the road, and the Austrian specialty Backhendl is a specialty. The restaurant is a bit loud when crowded,...More

Hans Weitzer (centre) was very busy running his wine bar back in 1910, the bar where DER STEIRER is located today. But he knew how to enjoy himself too, and took great delight in spending time in the company of his guests, sitting down together to share in delicious food and drink. DER STEIRER follows in his footsteps: gemütlichkeit is our watchword. Our aim is to make you feel completely at home, savouring the taste of traditional Styrian (or “steirisch”, as the locals say) cuisine and our almost limitless selection of wine. Relax in a laid-back atmosphere, grab a quick coffee at the bar or find a souvenir of that uniquely Styrian joie de vivre.
