It was a birthday dinner, so expectations were already high, especially after having read so many reviews. Although we were surprised to find out it was part of a hotel, it seemed cut off, and the atmosphere was romantic and peaceful. The service was great, and the food was delightful. We had the tortelloni starter, the brisket, and the duck for the main course. The duck sauce is indescribable; the perfect balance between sweet and tangy. We also ordered 2 desserts but got a third one complimentary from the chef given it was my birthday 👨🍳. The egg white dessert was probably my favourite as the textures were perfectly balanced. Honestly, I hadn't been to a genuine place like this in ages. It's definitely worth a visit.

Popped into Azar tonight after reading the reviews! Let’s say it didn’t disappoint. By far the best food we’ve had in Malta. We know it’s a bit more pricey than most places but it was certainly worth every cent. We had an amuse bouche which was a broad bean bigilla dip, for starter we shared the house Pastrami tartar. For main we did the cut of the day, a 600g rib eye steak which was an import, hence the price - cooked perfectly medium rare. The jus that came with it, oh wow! I could drink pints of it, it was that good. Marisa wanted the pork belly which unfortunately wasn’t available, the duck breast replacement was a worthy substitute. Again, perfectly cooked. With the cut of the day, it came with triple cooked chips and chard cauliflower, and an amazing sweet potato puree accompanied the duck. Whilst not the perfect pairing for the food, we had a nice chenin blanc wine. The staff were all very friendly, chatty but not over bearing, and polite. Thank you Azar team for a lovely evening!

Dinner at Azar was a truly special experience. The food from start to finish was beyond spectacular - a show for the senses, to say the least, with surprising tastes, incredible textures and beautiful dishes. Our host was absolutely wonderful, highly attentive and even made bespoke drinks for a pregnant guest at the table. Each team member at Azar is doing an excellent job at running a one of a kind spot in Malta. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this unforgettable meal.

Comfortable and refined environment, with pleasant background music. Very friendly staff with waitresses who speak Italian well. We were kindly offered a bruschetta of fennel bread with broad bean mousse, balsamic vinegar and oil as an entrée. We chose the catch of the day (tuna served with smoked butter mousse) and pork fillet: both delicious! The orange flavored chocolate dessert is worth it. Price appropriate to the standing of the venue. We highly recommend.

The service you receive and the quality of the dishes and drinks are in balance. They are of a high standard. After 8 months, the business still looks like new, the service and the kitchen also look fresh and up-to-date. Please note that a full dinner with drinks costs a bit more than in many places in Malta; but you definitely get value for your money. The staff talks, with expertise and pleasure, about local products, wines and beers. The details in the dishes provide surprising flavors (crispy egg yolk in a tartare), but the highlight for us was the tomato risotto beforehand. Had a nice evening, and good luck to the team in putting this restaurant further on the map.

A charcoal black cocktail was the start of an amazing food experience, sitting in a patio, decorated with huge plants to make it look like a garden. Lead by the waiters suggestions we enjoyed slowly cooked Argentinian ribeye and exquisite Maltese wine. Panna cotta on banana bottom topped with peanut oil is just a heavenly desert.

If you’re looking for a nice place to eat, I could not recommend you more to go to Azar.
Absolutely impeccable experience, fantastic food and even better staff. The gentleman who served us (can’t remember his name but know it began with M) was amazing. Very fancy and elegant dining experience, this gentleman along with other staff, and the chef ensured that we were enjoying our meal and time. Very calming atmosphere, very clean and elegant, well designed.
Furthermore the staff were extremely helpful, accomodating and friendly, especially when my elderly parents became sick. They gave my parents complimentary waters and drinks when they were unwell, booked us a cab, as well as assisting us in leaving the restaurant.
Additionally they made the experience extra special by preparing a rose and small desert (which they brought out with sparkler) on the house for my parents 50th wedding anniversary.
If anyone is looking for a place to eat, I highly encourage you to visit Azar. Best restaurant experience yet.
I can’t thank the amazing staff for all of their hospitality and service tonight. Will most definitely be returning. Thankyou

Had the perfect valentines dinner ❤️ there was a set menu, however I am not the biggest fan of meat and they ever so kindly accommodated my personal dates - hats off the the chef Michele!
And the service with Himu was absolutely fantastic! Made us feel at home right away, kept a permanent smile on our faces at all times! 10000% recommend!

As the foodies that we are, during our 1-week trip to Malta, we were eager to discover the culinary surprises the island has to offer and Azar certainly did not disappoint!
The service is attentive to your every need, making sure everything was to your liking.
The food is absolutely wonderful, full of flavours and colours all the way from the dip for the bread to the dessert and nightcap, without forgetting the Maltese wine which was an exceptional discovery as well!
The chef is a pleasure to have a talk with and his love for food transpires in every dish!
We absolutely recommend Azar, this chef will go far!

An all round 5* experience. I visited on the first night of my holiday. The food was some of the best I’ve ever tasted and gave a real flavour of Malta. The service was excellent - the waiting staff were very attentive and made recommendations when I couldn’t decide because I was spoilt for choice! I enjoyed the meal so much, I went back again on my final night - they were by far the best meals of my holiday. I couldn’t recommend this place any more, it deserves a Michelin star!

After a walk through the streets of Sliema, we arrived at this restaurant, they immediately welcomed us with kindness and once we were seated they asked us what we would like to drink without leaving us waiting.
The waiter speaks Italian very well, they brought us dedicated menus in Italian. Once the various dishes had been carefully explained, we ordered, choosing to split two starters and have four main courses. All absolutely delicious, distinct flavors and perfect combinations! It was my birthday and we asked for a dessert with a candle, they made us sit in the garden (where we could be alone) they brought the dessert with a sparkling candle while singing "happy birthday".
Four people, 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of wine, 2 appetizers, 4 second courses, 1 dessert. We paid around €190.
it is not cheap, but in line with the quality of the dishes and the service.
I hope to return soon to enjoy other dishes.

Amazing food. I have been to many great Michelin star restaurants. This one exceeds many of them. The quality of the food and the customer service were simply magnificient. Special thanks to Pedro and Hemu for making it even more wonderful.

The ambient is great, staff is attentive, especially the restaurant supervisor and Michele who is the owner and chef. Must try USDA brisket and if available cut of the day grass fed ribeye steak. The desert was also one of a kind. Definitelly recommended.

Really good restaurant, probably Maltas most underrated restaurant at the moment. Have been here 5-6 times in total and always surprised why it is not full of people. People working here are good, professional and ask for you opinion about food and drinks (very rare in Malta). Have tried most of the many and they always deliver high international standard.

5 star experience!! Can only recommend, will definitely visit again when we come back to Malta!!
Service: 5/5 no matter who served us, it was always in an attentive and friendly manner - every wish of ours fulfilled and sincere but never obtrusive conversations!
Drinks: 5/5 I really urge you to try the Cocktails/Mocktails, we had to reorder as they were just delicious!
Food: We shared the octopus as starter and regretted not having ordered 2 portions...
But when we got our main dishes, beef and a daily special, we were in awe, surprisingly big portions and even more delicious than the starter!
You have to try the patatas bravas, better than in most spanish places..
For dessert we shared a freshly made melon sorbet - by this point we already expected it to be good - and it was!
Don't miss out if you are in Malta, good prices considered it's fine dining and delicious food, big recommendation!
