We had a wonderful time in this restaurant, the personnel was welcoming and the fresh fish we took was delicious. (Same goes for the people around us who took seafood and seemed to be very satisfied)

I visited Narfeyrarstofu 16 of May with 8 other friends. This small restaurant is very nicely furnished and has small but nice menu. We as a group had a mixed starter. Smoked and dried lamb and pan seared scallops. fantastic dish served with nice white vine. Then came a fantastic lamb with vegetables and great sauce and another great red... More

We stopped here for an early dinner and were able to get a seat around 5pm. I think they get busy around 6 and 8pm. We had the seafood soup, salad of the day, and the mussels. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was very tasty and did not disappoint for our cravings for seafood from this... More

Quite usual cooking. Very strange salad- lot of unbeatable staff that looks nice but what to do with it? And very strange smells from local mussels. It seems not fresh

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry you didn’t like what was served that day. We take in fresh greens, fish, mussels and other ingredients daily and our aim is to serve fresh local food. This place would be competitive anywhere. Friendly staff , good food and a nice atmosphere. The town itself can't be beat either so it's a good combination and just the right lunch stop on a tour of your headed out to the National Park.

I really enjoyed the dinner in this cozy restaurant. We ate cod on and sea food spaghetti - it was one of the best meals we had both in Iceland and in general. Everything was really fresh, and in addition staff was really friendly and attentive. Enjoyed it a lot. Definitely would go there again if only in that neighborhood!

I had the fish and chips which were served with waffle fries. My daughter had the french fries for lunch. They were hot, fresh and tasty. My son had the salmon which had a tasty sauce. My wife had the scallops which she said were excellent. Not a lot of choices in town so we were very lucky.

My wife had the mussels and seafood soup. I had the lemon sole. The bread, butter, and smoked salt were the best we had, and we tried several from outstanding restaurants. Highly recommend!

Nice place. Good and friendly service. Vegetarian friendly food with big portion. Lamb was good but for the price it should have been more exquisite.

Description
Narfeyrarstofa restaurant and café is the oldest operating restaurant in Stykkishólmur. It’s a family business and is open all year round.

Narfeyrarstofa’s menu features inventive dishes served artfully in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant, where utterly charming views from the premises bring life to the atmosphere. There is a strong emphasis on creativity in the kitchen, and it is safe to say that craftsmanship is held in high regard, as the ingredients are of the finest quality and sourced locally wherever possible.

Narfeyrarstofa’s chefs prepare all ingredients from scratch, and the kitchen makes use of a powerful meat processor as local meat is prepared in different ways for the various dishes on the menu. From the restaurant there are views over Breiðafjörður bay’s “natural pantry”. Ingredients from there are on the table every day, exceptionally fresh. Blue mussels from Breiðafjörður are always on offer when in season.

The menu also has a selection of hamburgers, proclaimed to be “the real deal”, “juicy” and “even better than búllaburgers” by our guests, who come back for them again and again! Our wine menu is unusually diverse and features specially selected wines of various types.

The restaurant is in a two-storey house built in 1906 in the heart of Stykkishólmur, by the old church that towers over Aðalgata. There is room for 70 people indoors, and it’s also possible to sit outside when the weather’s nice. The atmosphere at Narfeyrarstofa is warm and welcoming, and the staff and the owners do everything they can to provide outstanding service to their guests.
