A good way to sample a variety of interesting Iceland specialties. Small portions make it easy to indulge your palette. Some exotic dishes (to this American) such as Minke Whale and Smoked Puffin. Both excellent - hard to tell whale from beef tenderloin... Perhaps a...More

Our question to the girl at reception at our hotel was: 'If a friend of yours visited Reykjavik, where would you take them?' Her solution was this Spanish-Icelandic tapas restaurant serving a variety of classic dishes with some 'Icelandic' highlights. We stuck to the former,...More

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and it did not disappoint. We opted for a set menu and the food, of a very good quality, just kept on coming! The lamb, beef, lobster tails and duck were the favourites of the evening. Only...More

The meal was delicious. Best lamb and lobster I've ever had (and I had a lot of lamb in Iceland!). You could also try out some of the more unusual Icelandic dishes of whale, puffin....and foal....(Ok...after my horseback riding I just couldn't try that one)....More

Expensive but great selection and preparation. One of the best drinks ever! Mix of traditional Icelandic and more contemporary items.

Description
TapasBarinn is an extremely lively restaurant where Spanish tapas tradition meets the freshest Icelandic ingredients. It is located in a cellar at Vesturgata 3 in Reykjavik's central. The menu at TapasBarinn offers over 50 different meat, fish and vegetable dishes so you can take your time and experiment various flavour combinations. A must try is the Icelandic gourmet feast which is a great way to taste the best of Icelandic produce in one meal. The restaurant has been open since the year 2000 and has become a local favourite. It has the only kitchen in Reykjavík that is open 23:30 on weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The breezy atmosphere and the Spanish effects in the decorations make TapasBarinn ideal for an enjoyable evening, a true ray of sunshine in downtown Reykjavík.
